LG CX (C10) OLED 2020 Thread

The one here is still pristine, no dead pixels, no burn in. We do use it as a PC display, but that PC is usually remoted in, rather than used directly. So usually not used for display high brightness, etc stuff. Normally used for the occasional news and for the occasional movie in UHD+HDR/Dolby Vision so it would hit higher brightness then, but the changing scenese means we're not worried about a particular spot on the burning in more than the rest.

Yeah while i don't watch the News that often I may sometimes have it on while I do stuff indoors and it's mainly that white static border at the bottom that is the main concern along with their bloody logos but was honestly surprised to see it had burnt in from that rather than say a riva overlay which I normally have up in the top left on every game I play while as mentioned at most TV will be watched for an hour or so ... annoying but at least it's getting sorted for free :)

Yeah still have mine from 2020 launch. Still going strong.

I don't particularly consider a TV Ive owned for about 4 1/2 years old though, despite how many editions have released since.

Oh I wouldn't class it as old either and still extremely happy with the picture it provides ( bright enough for me tbh ) just like phones these things are upgraded yearly with small improvements each year so from year to year not going to see massive jumps in quality but I imagine we would notice the difference if we used one of the newer set weather that is from games being smoother from the high refresh or the picture just being more punchy due the the Evo panels now used ... would also notice the dent in the wallet/ bank account unfortunately ( when shopping for 77" + )

Mine is used for general PC use, browsing, gaming etc, occasional movies. In use 8hrs per day for the last 4 years, zero signs of burn in or any other issues.

Which reminds me of another question: I haven't updated the firmware in quite a while, at least 2 years. I never use the 'smart' features of the TV, nor let it connect to the internet. All I use it for is a dumb display connected to my PC. Would there be any benefit to updating the firmware? Or is it one of those "if it ain't broke don't fix it" situations?

Mine was updated earlier this year, so there have been updates. The only thing though, is I think it's to update firmware alongside software packages to avoid issues with apps and software no longer being supported, rather than to fix any technical issues or improving quality or anything like that. So you're probably not missing out on much by not updating the firmware. So long as you picked up some of the more important updates from a year or so after it's release, you're probably golden.

I bought mine in 2021 I think and it is on for a good chunk of the day, both TV and gaming, and there's no issues such as burn in or dead pixels. The only problem is my daughter's grubby hand print marks all over it.

Distilled water and a lint free cloth like you get to clean a set of glasses... use 1 cloth in Distilled water to wipe down the screen then use another 2 to dry the screen, cleans it to a smear free finish and no residue from the Distilled water ... I hate doing mine as its 77" so do it in 4 section to make it easier

Little update , got an Email from John Lewis saying the insurance company has now written off the screen and will be in contact within 2 days with some options... I assume one will be a full refund ( £3600 ) in which case will take that and add a £1000 to it and go get the 77" G5 or if they offer me a C5 would be happy to take that as a replacement... will update with what they say :)

Pffft. Tap water is fine.

So far have been offered a new ( old stock ) 83" C2 or a 77" C4 as a direct replacement to my screen... can get the G5 but will be around £2000 extra so may just go with the C4 for now , need to watch / read some reviews. I had my heart set on a new G5 after watching the reviews and the new RGB panel being raved about but also a hefty bit of cash on top although from what I can work out I will still be keeping the CX as they haven't requested to pick it up etc .

Ive never used any liquid on mine, just wipe it over with one of them fine microfibre cloths (ones you use on glasses).

Always been a bit wary of using water sprays, I do have a good one I use on my MacBook though, just hesitant to try it on my tv for some reason.

C4 is an excellent set, I would jump at that, I think it was always going to be a slim chance of getting the latest series offered. As well as my CX we have the smaller C4 48" and very happy with it.

I just get the cloth damp on mine and wipe it over that way, by no means like putting it in the bath for a wash

Yeah that's very likely what I will go with, the C2 is a touch too big tbh plus it's a few years old now where as the C4 supports 144hz and should have a brighter panel than the CX and C2 ... G5 would be lovely but that price even when upgrading is hard to swallow so very likely go C4 :)

£900 and 4 years later, best TV (CX) I've ever had. Over 8,000 hours now. Only noticeable burn (when using those burn in tests) in is the youtube logo from using TV with PC and not watching videos in full screen.

What I don't get, is how to upgrade. From what I can tell all OLEDs are very similar. The CX introduced 4K 120hz VRR and looks like we are still at that, so no real gaming benefits available.

It's 4K 165hz now on latest panels, which for me would be a noticeable bump in smoothness and performance.

Having just picked up a G5 , if you can stretch to it go for it as is a noticeable upgrade in everyway over the CX ... better brightness ( by a lot in person!) Better colour and the extra 45hz/GPS is very much noticeable, you will not look back :D

The G5 looks like a genuine leap if this review is to be believed.

I guess the problem for me is that its a different tier and therefore price (£2400 for 55") of TV. If this trickles down to the C6 for less than £2000 then maybe.

yeah I wouldn't pay that much, £2400 for 55" not a chance.
