LG Flatron 29UM65-P (29") UltraWide Monitor Owners Thread

Could you not leave like 1-2cm gap? Or just move it up and down for when you need to access the OSD/turn it on/off? :p

And yes, same system for the 29ub65

Well, considering it be wider then the 24'' monitor I have I guess it don't have to put it absolutely flat on top of the main monitor. Moving it up and down though wouldn't be a easy option since the stand I have is fitted with 3 x 24'' monitors and with this one above I wont be able to get to the locking mechanism to move the monitor up and down to easily.. then again, come to think about it, I wont really be using the OSD that often once I calibrated it would I ?

Any clue what the difference is between the 29UM65 and the 29UB65, part from the foot which I wont be needing anyway.. lol

Ohh and since you guys own these, there is a VESA mount at the back right, 100 x 100 ?? Don't say on LG's web site and neither in OCuk's description of the monitor.

Ah I see what you mean now.

True that, the only time you would need to use it would be to turn the monitor on/off.

Only the stands are different, everything else is the same.

Yup, VESA mounting on the back although I think it is 75x75.

Ok, thanks again for quick reply! =)

75x75 for the VESA works too though so that's good. :)

Guess I put this one back as a possible 21:9 screen for me while I keep looking around, still waiting for the additional mount for the monitor stand I have so I can attache the monitor above the others once I buy one so still plenty of time. =)

Got another question to the owners of the 29UM65.. The 4-Screen Split feature this monitor has, not seen anyone else having it so take it is a LG feature ? And do you find it useful, especially if anyone here doing web design or similar ?

Yup, LG's feature, although I think there is 3rd party software that does the same thing pretty much, I just use windows built in auto snap when you drag the window to the side or hold the start button on your keyboard and hit either the right or left arrow button.

I don't use my screen for work but do like to have a video playing whilst browsing or something else and personally don't think that there is enough screen real estate for more than two windows, at least anything more than 2 is too cramped for my liking....

Thanks again for quick response !! =)

Just learned something new as well, wasn't aware of the "hold down start button and hit left/right arrow" function !

And yes, if I be using it as main screen then a 4 split would be to small too but think can be ok since it be a work/movie screen for me.. =)

I actually leaning towards this, although the 3 monitors I have is all Dell but wont really matter that much in this case. Only question is if my single Sapphire R290 4Gb be able to run all 4 by itself.

ohh and another question, would you guys say the HDMI port or DisplayPort be best to run it through for movies mainly ? And is it a DisplayPort 1.2 is has ?? (Don't say either on LG's website or in OCuK description of the screen)

Sorry for all the questions! :o

NP :)

It is a handy wee feature!

I think you should be able to run 4 screens with the 290, as long as you have 4 connection ports.....

Doesn't matter which connection you use with this monitor, DVI-D, display port, HDMI, all the same for image quality, although some people seem to have flickering with certain connections, iirc mostly DVI-D. I have tried all 3 out and haven't had any problems.

And yes there is an option to enable display port 1.2 in the OSD controls, although I don't think our monitors need it, iirc it is only required for the very high res. monitors in order to get 60HZ and/or 10 bit colour support.

IT supports dp 1.2 afaik , I would only ever use DVI or DP ... Unless a console demanded it . ( those 2 hdmi cables where relegated

To be honest that 4 screen feature whilst it's ain't gonna be used on a screen this size all that much , it's helped me watch , work , play and **** all at the same time... Haha but no the feature I love most is the ability to utilise 2 different sources without switching. Picture in picture almost .

Also , this pin thing can it not be reinserted to keep monitor from moving? Forever picking it up and forgetting!!

Thanks again Nexus18, you should be a sales rep for OCuK ! ;)

The Sapphire R290 has 1 HDMI, 1 DP 1.2 and 2 DVI-D ports so can run 4 monitors. But the reason I asked is that the description says I can run 4 monitors through the DipsplayPort, if I understand it correctly.

DisplayPort 1.2 now includes support for Multi-Stream, allowing you to drive up to four separate monitors from a single DisplayPort 1.2 connector (requires DP1.2 monitors or Multi-Stream compatible hub)

Although I could run my Dell's through the DP and use the HDMI for the LG I guess. =)

For AMD GPU users looking at this monitor, you might want to hold of for a bit longer :D

Hi there

Spoke to LG.

Hoping to get 29" and 34" super-wide flat IPS panels early next year with FreeSync which shall be exclusive to OcUK in UK. :D

So IPS and Freesync, boooooooooooooooooom! :)

Bahh humbug ...

**Goes of to read up on FreeSync and if it would be beneficial for my purpose with a 21:9 monitor**

:p

The quad window thing is a bit overplayed really. Not enough vertical res on the 29" screens to make much use of it. Don't find it all that useful on the 34" panels either. Comes in to its own on 4k panels though, which i guess is why windows 10 has it built in (quad snap)

I see this monitor has been as low as £250, is that likely to happen again would you think?

I've only about £200 budget for a monitor but really like this and could stretch a bit.

I would be very wary of getting a b grade monitor, chances are it was returned due to excessive bleed/IPS glow....

Also, only 90 days warranty.

Yup, pretty sure it will!

If you contact Gibbo somewhere on here or by phone, I'm sure he might do a special offer....
