LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

This monitor looks so damn impressive, i'm looking at going 4K on payday but keep thinking that this would be better, it's just the price is a little too much at the moment.

That's because this is better :p

what advantage would 64bit bring and why should i demand it?

Not many in this usage scenario although some may argue that very large video files load a bit quicker and seek quicker on the 64bit version... But we should be striving to be 64bit everything as much as possible. Benefit or not (however small), it's the only way to make progress and ditch the now ancient architecture.

I may be putting one of my 34UM95s on the MM, I need to send my own one back for the bottom left corner bleed to be fixed first of course. Depends on how long you're willing to wait if you don't mind a German import :p

Well my contact certainly knows I have ended up with 2 as I've been in contact with him about the left lower corner bleed remaining post rma and he said not to worry as he's sending me a new one with extra gift anyway :p

The re-rma of my current one is being done by the retailer. I've already created the RMA, just need to send it to them and claim shipping costs back. Speaking of which LG UK still have not paid me the shipping costs for the first time... a call tomorrow will be made let it be known.

The bleed on my one now isn't much, just a bit on the corner and it appears by comments in this thread that most would be fine with that kind of bleed given how perfect the other 3 corners are but tbh for what I've been through I'd prefer all 4 corners perfect not just 3!

Heinz would have sent me the complimentary monitor anyway though as he asked for my address details long before the German LG service centre had shipped my one back. His initial email did apologise for all the issues I've had with LG and said he'd sort me out after all!

I'd be giving Heinz a happy ending with that sorting out :p

Although with your re-RMA, I'd be concerned about just getting a replacement with worse bleed, rather that it getting repaired. But if it gets repaired, then Christ, I'll be watching your name on the MM :p

Edit*
I don't think the store will replace it with a new one considering the first time round I specifically said for them to refund or replace yet they still sent it for repair! Even LG UK's letter stated refund or replace!

Wow, what a fiasco!

Just been catching up with this thread. Glad you finally have a decent monitor, Mrk.

My replacement is still trucking along and other than the negligible glow I haven't had any bleed issues. Can't say I'm going to buy another LG monitor any time soon though.

On the DP 1.2 side, to get 10-bit colour you need a FirePro or Quadro GPU that supports it. I've left it disabled after the flickering and pop noises got too irritating to handle.
As for FreeSync, I've discovered I can alleviate all those issues with a second GTX 780 (which I borrowed and begrudgingly had to give back).

It will be fully sorted if the new one that's coming lives up to the rep's inspection claim of no signs of bleed! It's currently in Oldbury according to tracking. I expect it should get delivered tomorrow with the extra gift.

I am now on the vessel and I am stuck on here until the end of the month, so I can't buy one. :( However prices seems to have started to drop, as one big retailer is now selling it for £709. So hopefully when I get back the price will have dropped even further, including on OcUK :D

Price drops are looking good. Though I still think it's way over priced when you can get several different 4k displays at £400-500, I think I may pick one up when they're nearer £600

This panel probably costs more to manufacture than the 4K TN panels.
And this is IPS, those 4K ones aren't (That said you can get a 24" 4K IPS 60HZ Dell at the sameish price point)

Trolled!!

Damn had me going "nooooooooo!" when the LCD TV box got drooped off this morning. Opened it up though and inside was my precious.

The free gift? It is the LG Calibration unit:

I have no idea if it's any good though but it is £30 on Amazon and 1 review only of it with a 1 star rating but that reviewer is very vague and just says "don't bother, LG support is crap" (paraphrased :p).

I probably won't be using it anyway since I have an i1Display Pro. I might give it away free or bundle it with the 34UM95 I sell as it will work fine with LG True Color Finder.

Now, to let the new one install, warm up and check bleed!

I've also binned the Amazon DisplayPort cable I bought, found it was dodgy as it flickered if I wiggled the cable. Will use the LG cable instead.

I think that's just a bit of lost in translation (he is German remember!) the two gifts includes the monitor being one gift, since it was free :p

I'm too scared to plug it in just in case there's bleed :o
