LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Ok here is my current one:

Manual brightness 100%:

^ Ignore the right side, the blinds have a gap where light is hitting the right side of the screen.

It's not any different on the bottom left at 15 brightness (calibrated). Damn shame they forgot about the bottom left else it would be the best output from an LCD panel I have ever seen.

Here's hoping the one that is on its way to me is like the above on all 4 corners!

Its quite hard to compare with mine as mine looks far overblown by the camera than yours does.
I mean just compare the osd on yours compared to the text in the middle of mine... tough to make an accurate comparison but yeah you can definatly see you only have an issue in one corner.
I wish mine was like that lol.

Take your pic again and don't over expose? :p

My response time is on high btw. No ghosting noticed. On the 29" when set to high I did notice ghosting though.

Tried my best... but theres still some over exposure as you can tell by the text.
This is at 100% but not as over exposed as before.

I also have the monitor tilted slightly backwards now to even out the corners more.

Is the white light at the top right bleed? or is it light seeping through from my window. im pretty sure I had the curtains as closed as I could when I took this.

The reason you can see the top right more now compared to before is because of the tilt. I tried to even it out as much as I can. Is the top right all bleed?

Just calibrated my display to 6500k exactly :D.
Mrk what luminance did you say you had yours set to? 80 seems fine to me as that's about 12 brightness on my display.

Lol Yeah it will be annoying and stressfull sending it off to LG but in the end he got back a pretty uniform panel so I guess it was worth it.

I think im going to get a replacement from OCUK first since they said they would do a straight swap for a new one and see how that it.

If its good enough ill keep it...if its not then ill send it to LG and let them sort it out.
I still have my old monitor with me so I can use that for now even though it doesn't compare :p but it will be worth it in the end.
£800 is a lot to spend on a monitor that has quite bad backlight bleed in one corner and really bad ips glow in the bottom corners and looking at mrk's panel LG can improve it a lot.

OK decided to get this monitor.

Now just need to understand the gfx card requirement a little better.

I have an old Asus Radeon 5850 (1GB) with DVI-D, display port and HDMI outputs.

Would this drive the monitor at 3440x1440 OK?

If I wanted to do some mild gaming what would be better?

Thanks.

290 at the very least imo.

What do you guys find the best quality media player is? I normally use VLC but I hear media player classic is pretty good to.

MPC with madvr. END OF!

Follow this guide:

Can use MPC-BE instead, make sure it is the 32 bit version though as madvr doesn't work with 64 bit MPC.

Are you saying a 290 is the minimum that will drive it at all or the minimum for some mild gaming?
I'm trying to establish what the minimum card is to drive it for general use prior to diving in for a gaming card.

A 5850 could drive games just fine, of course if you are happy with the lowest settings possible :p

Depends what games you play and what settings you want to be able to use so if you are a BF 4, skyrim, watch dogs etc. type of gamer and want high/ultra settings, 290 is what I would go with, if you don't mind medium settings then a 280. Wouldn't recommend nvidia cards due to less VRAM.

lol - lucky to get this working - ****ing ****!!

:p
