LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

LG make the nicest looking screens be it monitors or TV's, the 2013 Cinema TV I had looked nice.

That wallpaper looks like it has brackets on it to hang shelves (the pattern).

I've been hunting for a monitor for a 1680x1050 upgrade.

Saw this. Swore loudly. Now trying to justify the cost.. Hoping it halves at some point ;)

Screens look good but their stands are crap, really crap. £800 monitor ships with a perspex stand aand no height adjustment? seriously??

At least they ditched the perspex for the 34uc97. Still no height adjustment though and how much is that going to cost? They might as well not bother putting a stand in the box at all.

Stands look crap on most of monitors esp last Gen but I have only owned their TV's and they are steel on many (mines was that big dark silver bar on the higher end 2013 models which also had a dark silver steel edge around the glass, would have preferred it black TBH.

Agreed, most monitors aren't 800 quid though :p

£400 cheaper only major difference is the slightly lower resolution & its designed for PC only not PC/MAC. Apart from that Picture is identical the main difference is the MAC only features & different colour back.

it's not slightly lower lol. The um95's 3440*1440 panel has 79% more pixels than the 2560x1080 panel in the um65.

LOL

That is the issue, 1080p is not my ideal choice for this as you loose going from any screen even 1920x1080, so it would need be the 1400p model.

Im still curious to why people think this is too expensive at just over £700..What does that make the smaller in size 4k ips screens then? :P.
Yes it costs a lot but compared to those its cheaper and id rather have the bigger size and wider fov than a higher resolution. The rog swift isn't far behind this price either and I think your getting a much bigger wow facfor with this screen than you are with that unless your a hardcore fps gamer but even then your only getting gsync and I hardly notice any tearing on this with vsync.

Personally I think the monitor is overpriced, great monitor but not worth that much imho, especially at the time of release, it was going for about £800-900 iirc?

I also think the ASUS ROG is a complete rip of as well, Gsync, build etc. look great but £700 for a TN panel :/

Only display tech. that will be worth that much is OLED! :p

Its not aimed at gaming but that doesn't mean it can't be a gaming panel too. The ultra wide aspect ratio is just as good for gaming as it is for video and photo work ect.

£1400 for a dell 4k ips.. This monitor is nearly half the price of that.

Yea. This should really be at UM65's price of £500, and UM65's own price should be at £350-£380 instead of £500 :p

Don't get me wrong here...I think it's an amazing monitor and it's right at the top of my list when I come to doing my new build. It has the perfect balance of things for me however I also think it's overpriced...yet, oddly, still worth the asking price. You're right in that compared to 4k ips it is an absolute bargain however when compared to the 29inch version I'm not sure the um95 commands the price it does. The price difference between the two models is absolutely ridiculous. This combined with the stand and quality control/bleed issues makes the price that much harder to stomach as well. I'd definitely buy it but it would leave a somewhat bitter taste in my mouth. It can command the price purely because there's no competition at the moment. I'll go with it if it's still the only option but I'll also be curious to see what others' offerings are like. For this type of screen I feel that £650 would have been a better price...and not just for limited time offers.
