LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

800 pounds is abit steep, but same with the ROG swift is you want premium kit youhave to pay premium prices :)
But the ROG premium has a lot to do with Gsync, meanwhile this monitor won't not work with freesync that's coming. Had it been compatable with freesync, then it might worth its current high asking price, being the one and only 21:9 monitor with sync support.

I'm returning the 34UM95 and holding out for the 34UC97, anyone else in my camp? Any good estimates of its UK availability, the launch is later this week apparently!

Probably has to do with Asus Tax and being the only 144HZ 1440p screen, bearing in mind the Asus 4K monitor was 100 quid more expensive than any other 4K TN which all had the same panel.

I felt the same as I was on a 144hz panel before this one but it really wasn't as much of a downgrade that I expected and the IPS panel makes up for it in my opinion.
This panel would never be 120hz because it couldn't be IPS and its marketed for photo work and for that you want the best and most accurate colours.
The only game at all where I miss 144hz is counterstrike but its been 5 years since I played that competitively so it wasn't really an issue.

in case anyone was wondering, here are the hardware calibration tool devices which will work with the LG True Color software and can be used to hardware calibrate the 34UM95:

Supported Calibrators / Measurement Devices

LG Electronics
LG Calibrator (ACB8300)
Version 1.33
(Unsupported monitor : IPS277, IPS237)

X-rite Inc
ColorMunki photo
Version 1.1.1
ColorMunki design
Version 1.1.1
i1DISPLAY Pro(i1Display3)
Version 0.4.7.2

Data Color Manufacturer
Spyder3
Version 1.2.2
Spyder4
Version 1.0.0.1

I've just successfully calibrated using my i1 Display Pro. So you don't have to buy the LG device if you want something different or already have a compatible device :) You do have to use their software though

note: I did try me i1 Pro spectrophotometer as well (v1) which was detected in the software as the i1 Pro 2, but which then didn't work as it said device not found. So this suggests maybe the i1 Pro 2 device is compatible (although not listed in the system requirements for the software0), but the original i1 Pro isn't.

May be. But Gsync does have a price premium for most monitors, other than the elusive Acer 4K monitor that's still nowhere to be seen.

I probably would need to get an extra monitor soon (as I will be having an extra room and would probably be setting up an extra PC), but with these "new monitors" with no new display port standard neccessary for supporting the potential freesync feature, not really sure it it's really worth such a heavy investment...or is it the right time to get a new monitor...

I'm hoping the the Dell U3415W will support FreeSync-Adaptive-Sync or whatever it ends up getting called.

I too am interested in the Dell.

Hopefully it will be matt not glossy. Hardware LUT is the way forward too.

...This curved display...i wonder if there are any disadvantages for graphics work. It's only a very slight curve, so shouldn't mess with perspective too much. (???)

guys, can anyone confirm if their 34UM95 came with the USB cable to connect the screen back up to the PC so you can use the built-in ports? The sample ive been sent doesn't have the cable, and it's not listed as an accessory included on LG's site, but wanted to check with those who've bought this screen?
