LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

What happens when you guys enable display port 1.2 on this.
Im pretty sure this screen is using 2 separate panels or at least both sides controlled independently.
The reason I say that is because firstly the tearing down the center of the screen that I get at 60hz and when I activate display port 1.2 The whole right side of the screen shakes every couple of seconds. The left side is fine so its like the right side has a separate panel and it goes a little crazy with 1.2 enabled.

I'd bet on two controllers (or something related) for PBP.
With DP1.2 enabled, not much happens on mine compared to some others, occasionally I'd get something like a 300px high grey horizontal (whole width, not just right or left half) artifact bar for like 0.001s in the lower half and/or a speaker *pop*

BTW, since getting my display port cable, I haven't had any issues with display port 1.2 being enabled (for the lg 29um65)

Any advantages of this being enabled though?

That's strange. I haven't really noticed it on mine since I went down to 59hz.

LG confirmed to me that its a single panel. There willing to fix it if I sent it to them and OCUK are willing to give me a refund but I don't know if I want too as the bleed on this panel is virtually none existant and I know if I get another LG or another brand it ill end up with bad bleed again knowing my luck lol.

Same thing here, I feel like I won bleed/glow lottery with mine (on the first try too!), and the risk of getting a ****** one back seems too high.
And from what I've learned from mrk's troubles is that even if I get back this exact display, they can still **** it up and create other problems (bad assembly => bleed...).

So I think I'm going to keep it for now. If the issue isn't fixed with some kind of update by the time we get adaptive sync models (or 5k or some new tech with better contrast or something other interesting), I'll switch.

Back in Florida, cant believe it has been 4 months already! So I am using my LG again and brought the 5 quid LG calibrator out with me, oh man it is nice now I have 100 cd/m2 2.2 6500k settings.

Probably not as accurate as the i1Display Pro but for the price it is great and the software was a doddle to use.

Screen still looks great, almost no blacklight bleed just a little in the bottom corners if I was being really picky, I pulled the front strip away but couldn't tell any difference so nothing pressure related there and the slight IPS glow covers it anyway as far as I can see.

Pretty much perfect to my eyes!

Here for another 4 weeks so will see if I get any deterioration since being one of the first with the screen I have the very early USA build but only put 4 weeks on it when I first bought it.

Hope it doesn't go the way of mrk's!

Have to admit I will miss my Asus Swift for gaming but I am here for Golf, Fishing and Sunshine anyway :p

Good to hear! yours is solder than my original one IIRC too? That's gonna stay good if it's not bled out (!) by now :p

If I slightly overexpose my free one's blank screen then this is what it looks like:

It's hard to immediately spot in person and with a normal exposure and since it's been several weeks+ I'm quite pleased to know it hasn't gotten worse!

Nice one! Cheers for that. Good explanation from MrK as well.

I suppose it's now just a, no so simple, case of deciding on the resolution for a single gpu (980). I'm sure either would be good. I definitely think the 21:9 screens are the way forward for me though.
I am finding @ 2560x1080 my single GTX 780 Ti can struggle in some games with maxxed out gfx + AA its enough but only just in recent games so UM95 will need at least the GTX 980 for now unless the game is well optimised you may need SLI at some time in the future. Thats why I chose the UM65 as by the time 21:9 games are mainstream I can see much cheaper/larger screens & faster GPU's so it does me for now & I watch a lot of Bluray movies from the original disc & again I am finding a bit of stutter on some movies upscaled to 2560x1080 so higher will be more of a GPU demand.

What games are you struggling to run AWPC? I haven't had any problems with my rig in sig and max settings (except AA), the only game where I need to drop most settings down by one notch is crysis 3.

Of course there are games that run a bit crap i.e. poorly optimised like dead rising 3 when you get LOADS of zombies in one frame/screen.

Likewise, no problems with blu rays using MPC-HC and madvr.

Yep but its fixed by loosening the bezel.

Only for lower edge bleed. If you feel around the LCD panel's edges with your thumb and push in you'll notice there are areas where the screen bends inwards and other areas where the screen is well supported behind and doesn't bend at all - it's the unsupported areas where bleed can exist.

I'm on an August revision and if LG doesn't support the LCD panel properly all the way around there will never be any improvements. It's understandable why bleed can crop up over time... just think of all the activities which could cause the LCD to bend inwards around the edges, for example, when you're cleaning the monitor and wiping it down whilst pressing round the edges. Eventually it would stick in that position and cause constant bleeding.

In other words, even if you RMA it chances are you will get another with the same problem unless LG either send you an inspected version or finally start creating well supported panels.

That's exactly what I was needing to hear and makes the decision that much easier. I'd rather avoid a multi gpu set up, if possible, and with a child on the way this planned build will need need to last the best part of 3 years....I have been told.lol I'd hate to get a 34" 1440p screen and be stuck with running anything well in the very near future.

Thanks for the response...very helpful.

Received mine yesterday and after playing with it tonight its got really bad back light bleed, like really bad :(

I knew this was a possibility but hoped it wouldn't be this bad! Those of you who have sent back screens for replacements how long has the process usually taken?

Its mostly on the bottom left you have bad bleed and a little at the right side.
To be honest it looks about the same as a lot of ones iv seen. The top right corner was always the best on all 4 of mine too. I would try the bezel thing first if it was me. That picture is extremely over exposed aswell.

What matson said! Screen is FAR too over exposed. Although it does look like all corners except for the top right have bleed... You should be able to remove/reduce the bleed in the bottom corners by unclipping the bottom bezel.

Just to give you an idea about exposure, my LG 29um65

I only just realised that I can control the exposure with my nexus 5, I had to turn HDR+ off first :o

So this is pretty much what my screen looks like in real life:

As opposed to this where the exposure setting is higher:

The top left is IPS glow and only noticeable in real life when you view the screen from the right side.

And if I were to increase the exposure even higher than the default setting, it would look even worse.

I did give the bezel trick a go and it didn't seem to make any noticeable difference to the bleed.
