LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Well, I fiddled a bit and seem to have it a fair bit better.

Pulling the front bottom panel bit helped ever so slightly, but what really helped was the front film... It's hard to describe but there is a slit around the front all the way around the screen, and I found sticking my nail in there in the bottom left corner, it blocked a fair bit of the bleed.

So I have a very thing piece of plastic wedged very carefully in there and that has made a difference. I can probably improve it further, and while it will not be perfect, it will be considerably better than it was.

I think/hope.

Maybe am just kidding myself, but will go look again in a bit.

What do you guys have your brightness at for general use?

That's good to hear. I hope you can get it looking even better. I read your earlier and felt so sorry for you, given the lack of proper insurance for LCD monitors when posting.

Yeah, will sit with it a bit tonight to be sure it is now OK.

For those in the know, assuming I have the bleed sorted to acceptable levels, will these work with this monitor - and do you think it's really necessary?

Oh yeah, they did end up returning it to LG Germany even though it still shows up in the account area as "forwarded to manufacturer" under my active RMAs. Bizarre but I don't really care any more, got my money back, got a free screen that's near perfect and got the curved to boot :p

mrk - could you hold off putting the calibrator until tomorrow?

Just need to be sure I am going to keep this screen, and should know that by tonight :)

I have figured out how to get the bleed to an acceptable level, so looks like I will probably be keeping this.

How does the KVM work on this thing?

I want to switch my m+k between PC and mac.

What do I need to connect where?

The mac am assuming will simply connect via thunderbolt (don't have cable yet), but then do I connect the PC to the "upstream" connection?

How would I then swap?

What did you do?

Nothing that would invalidate warranty :D

But then, sometimes I wonder if I am just convincing myself, rather than face the ball ache of trying to get it returned and find a better one...

It's difficult to describe, but I will try...

The screens front has a tiny gap between it and the frame all the way around - not the silvery bit of the outer frame, but the "inner" support frame, for lack of a better way to describe it.

It can even be difficult to get a fingernail in there.

But if I apply gentle forward pressure by catching on to that, the bleed is reduced somewhat.

So wedging something quite flat (even a credit card too thick for example) as far down on the left as I can, it seems to help.

I have not found what I can use as a more permanent solution - finding something both that flat and still quite firm is difficult.

Not sure if any of that made sense.

In a nutshell, it simply seems as if the screen front cover is simply being held on with a bit too much force in some parts - in my case, the bottom left.

Just read a couple of the reviews on OCUK, but without reading the whole thread can anyone comment on the reports of terrible input lag? Is gaming feasible on this?

I can also confirm that if the bleed is only really at the bottom, the majority of it will be being caused by the bottom plastic piece being clipped in too tightly.

just thought I would say that I have the curved model and I'm totally disappointed.
I found if I push in gently the bleed goes a little but for me this is just wrong for me to do this so its a return job because this is a defect and I shouldn't have to do this, just wish someone at OC would get back to my emails or deal with this over the phone, seems a right nightmare to get this returned!

Yeah bing, yours was noticeably work than mine from your pics.

I wouldn't have been in two minds at all in your case.

Mine still annoys me though, even being just one corner...

It's a bummer to see LG still haven't got the QC issues of bleed out of the way. All it takes is for human eyes to check before boxing up at the factory!

I'm totally at a loss now with what to do for a monitor, to date in the last month I have had:

2 x UM95 both returned due too back light bleed and dead pixel in middle ( no problems returning them to ..cannot say)
1 x Rog swift damaged on delivery but after seeing the 21.9 wide screen they don't quite do it for me so returned with no exchange and no problems returning from ... cannot say

and then this the UC97 Curve same issues with back light bleed and at the moment a few problems getting this returned

so here I am with a £1000 to spend and what do I buy?
