LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Considering what you paid, don't put up with it. That bleed on the bottom left looks horrible and very similar to my first two 29um65, I couldn't put up with it.

And yes OLED is superb (finally starting to come about for TV's now at "decent" prices) and the only way we will get true black but I rather put up with some IPS glow instead of image retention :p Still a lot of other issues with them too; motion, uniformity, dead pixels etc. etc.

Unfortunately, I think it is going to be a long time till we see any cost affordable OLED monitors though, my guess is about 4/5 years :(

Is anyone else having issues with this screen coming out of standby since the last couple of geforce drivers? I've got gtx780 and it was never an issue until recently, but now I have to restart the PC to get any display if it goes to sleep. When I try to wake it, I just get a grey screen with a "no signal" message. Switching inputs doesn't seem to help.

I'm using displayport cable that came with the screen.

Have you enabled DisplayPort 1.2 on the monitor? If so, try disabling. I say this because I have the 34UC97 and that also has problems (different problems, but still) when coming out of sleep with my GTX 780, but only with DP1.2 enabled.

As far as I can see 1.2 is completely unnecessary. It is not needed for 3440x1440 60Hz 8-bit, which is the display mode we will be using. 10-bit is unusable for desktop work and I don't believe used by any games (unless someone knows different).

Of course, this might not be it, but it's worth a try!

I think I do have it enabled, but it has been since I got it. I'll turn it off and see if it helps, cheers.

Being in touch with the CS guys on here, the bleed on mine isn't classed as a fault, so will have to return under CCR - I really just can't NOT see it though.

I wouldn't mind if the left side was like the right, but in something like Alien Isolation, it really sticks out.

Really didn't want to get into this buy/try/return cycle :(

In an ideal situation every screen should be near perfect as we know many have been bought and are exactly that so why aren't the rest checked to be the same is the question that can be asked especially at this price :/

I wasn't expecting perfection, and if the left side was same as right side, it wouldn't bother me.

I can see the right side on a black screen, but it doesn't really show up elsewhere to the degree of being a problem.

But the left, anything even remotely dark, and it starts to become noticeable.

Could I live with it? Possibly could get used to it...

Should I live with it? Don't really think so :(

Not classed as a fault = lol

Sounds like ocuk are getting fed up with the returns on these monitors now and just aren't wanting to go through the hassle of dealing with returns etc.

Considering the price of the screen, I certainly would not put up with noticeable bleed in normal usage.

That bottom left corner looks horrible and very similar to what I saw with my first two, I could even notice it during day usage.

Hmmm, the options that parcelmonkey gives me all state monitors are carried on non-compensation basis, so if I am having to return this under CCR and OCUK receive it damaged, I will be stuffed.

I need to be able to insure this, otherwise I cannot risk it.

Won't be buying monitors here again...

Parcel vendors need to change their policies regarding monitors really.

Also, you may/may not get a full refund with CCR, so bare that in mind. Given the current stock of these LG's in B-Grade, you're far from the first person to return one.

I'd be tempted to just turn brightness to 0 and live with it :(

That's not good at all eyetrip however, thanks for posting. I have one of these in my basket and have been very close to pulling the trigger since the AOC's announced delay. I was almost willing to play the panel lottery however enough's enough with this monitor. LG's quality control is simply non existent and I won't even start on anyone saying that much backlight bleed on a monitor of this price is anything other than a fault. This isn't priced well enough to take a risk on so I can only hope the AOC isn't the same or the lottery it'll have to be as I'm set on a 34" 21:9 of some description.

I did notice quite a few of these in the b-grade section as well. I certainly won't be touching them with a barge-pole, knowing why they'll have been returned.

Hope you get it sorted out.

If you're expecting the AOC to be markedly better I'm going to guess you're setting yourself up for a fall. Manufacturers still can't nail backlight bleed on smaller 16:10 and 16:9 monitors - 34" 21:9 was always going to be a lottery, and the AOC is the cheaper version of the LG.

As long as it's not any worse, and I fail to see how it could be, then it will be far better value for money. We already know that the pressure the case exerts on the panel has a huge effect on bleed so there's no reason to think that the AOC will suffer the same problem to the same degree. I'm by no means expecting a perfect panel...I'd just like one that won't continually irritate me to look at for the money that was paid.

Famous last words :D

Well, I fiddled a bit and seem to have it a fair bit better.

Pulling the front bottom panel bit helped ever so slightly, but what really helped was the front film... It's hard to describe but there is a slit around the front all the way around the screen, and I found sticking my nail in there in the bottom left corner, it blocked a fair bit of the bleed.

So I have a very thing piece of plastic wedged very carefully in there and that has made a difference. I can probably improve it further, and while it will not be perfect, it will be considerably better than it was.

I think/hope.

Maybe am just kidding myself, but will go look again in a bit.

What do you guys have your brightness at for general use?
