LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

When i googled the USA retailers i found the retail date 9th of May so make of that what you will.

not sure why you'd want it to be, either, unless you want to glue the monitor to your face. we dont sit 10" away from ~30" screens like with do with our tablets and phones etc.

If you want ipad-like retina in a screen this size, then you'll be wanting a 28" 6880x2880 display. You might be waiting a while!

I sit at arms length from a 20" 1680x1050 which is about right and there is very clearly issues with being able to see pixels on it since my CRT died around circa 2000. Ive downsampled BF4 also from 200% 4xMSAA and i still see pixelated grass at arms length.

It really irks me and takes away from the overall wow. The games i think look best and sharper are the Source games which you can bang 8xMSAA on. That is why i am guessing i am going to have complaints with this 34 inch model. The 4K Dell has 180 odd PPI that would probably be something i would enjoy but its very narrow at 24" compared to this LG after watching Linus.

finally an upgrade to my 30" 1600p as there is no way I would downgrade in size no matter the resolution bump.

some info on your VESA mount please?

My VESA mount is an OEM one rebranded by a few companies...

It's very well built and i have 6 inch masonry screws in a brick wall so I'm 99% sure it will hold, I have literally tested my body weight of it previously and it doesn't budge :P

It's too close, arms length is what, 25"? you are sitting too close to it if you want to eliminate pixels as the source of the image pixellation. You need to be sitting 35" away or more, ideally. The display resolution is low as well, this wont help. The final render resolution is going to have a large bearing on the pixellation. You can test this by dropping the resolution down further on the monitor (keeping 1:1 if you can) and comparing the image - less display resolution = less pixels to represent the image. Less pixels, more pixellation. Doesnt matter what downsampling you use in BF4, you can only do so much.

I'm all over this when it comes out!

I do a lot of flight simming and this monitor would be great for the virtual cockpit view given the wide aspect and FOV should add to the immersion by extending the peripheral vision field. Been waiting for a high-res 21:9...none of that 1080 junk :D

No none are 4K people are just using the wrong terms. The main panels are 2560x1080 (UM65) and the rest are 3440x1440 (UM95) and in 34" and 29" variants. There is nothing else in 21:9 ratio, And none in real 4K these are around 40% lower pixel counts than full ultra HD which is 8 million pixels and 3440x1440 is around 5 million.

Full 4K
UHD Ultra high definition television 3840×2160 (16:9) 8,294,400

21:9 4K
UHD Ultra wide television 5120×2160 (21:9) 11,059,200

I will take a 34" 5120×2160 pushing 11 million pixels please :o

I think I'll wait, £940 is too much, I will want the price to come down abit before I jump in.

£940 is waaaaay too much. Given that I own it's little brother, the Dell 29 super wide, which you could nab for £300 on here the other day, that's just silly money

It's basically the same unit but a higher res panel. No gsync or anything new, and only 60hz. It shouldn't be any more than £700 I believe now.
