LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

£850, no way? Your looking at over £1000 surely.

Where are we getting these prices from???

I've just found the 34 inch but lower res (2560 x 1080) listed for just over £450 EDIT "£540 with tax". I predicted way back in this thread the one we all want (ie the 34UM95) will be £899 on release, but then thought it would be less.

Not so sure now.

From what i grasped it is nothing but but a larger and higher res 29" version of thier old panels they sold on to Dell and AOC. The brightness and everything seems the same maybe a few more ports on the back. But those AOC went for £299. How do you manage to go to £550 on the UM65? Taking the **** much? £799 maximum unless its a much improved IPS.

I really, Really want one though soon. Just need to raise some moneys by selling off my old Dell panels now. I got a 20" and 24" ready to go to someone.

Is the 65 a 10bit panel as well If not then this is a new panel most likely.

TBH selling my 27 and 24" Dells will make half the cost of the 34 back at least so the blow isn't as hard in the end.

The 95 ain't a true 10 bit panel either. It's 8 bit+ fcr, which for the vast majority of people is actually a good thing.

Ah yeah - Still, at least colour accuracy for the sRGB spectrum should be excellent because of this anyway.

LG support have said they shouldn't have a problem sorting out a review unit but I should follow up with their main inbox so have forwarded the message there too. Will see what they say. I'm happy to buy it off them after as well which should add some incentive and a win win for both parties!

Can anyone find the 29" version with the 3440x1440? The one with epic PPI approaching retina? I heard it was going to be launched as well i wonder what price it is as 109ppi aint that hot really. Im still going to have issues in BF4 with thier 4xMSAA and im going to have to chuck lots of horses at the res too ><

Its either this or 3x Foris 2421p but you can't find a card out there with 3xdisplayport. That would be the only thing i can think of that would be as epic as this.

its nothing near the PPI of a retina display. 4th gen ipad = 264 PPI. 29" 3440x1440 = 129 PPI.

not sure why you'd want it to be, either, unless you want to glue the monitor to your face. we dont sit 10" away from ~30" screens like with do with our tablets and phones etc.

If you want ipad-like retina in a screen this size, then you'll be wanting a 28" 6880x2880 display. You might be waiting a while!

Retina just really means not being able to differentiate the pixels at normal viewing distance. So for a big monitor you wouldn't need such a high ppi like on tablets and phones.

A 4K monitor at 27 inches would more than suffice at a quick guess.

So I emailed LG to find out the release date ........ :/
