LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

I quite like how they say you get 63 rows in excel in uhd instead of 46 rows in full hd..then u notice the subtle full hd in 21:9 format..

because as far as excel goes I get 43 rows in 1280x1024 at my 19''..so yeah..nowhere near as good for productivity.

it may have the wow factor for 21:9 and be nice for movies but then again anyone who can afford a 4k monitor prob has a big screen tv anyway.

its also not really 4k but a half-way.

id rather wait for true 4k at 34'' or higher from a reputable manufacturer, at proper format for productivity and gaming.

also, there are a lot of people complaining about scaling in windows at 4k monitors when they have not tried any themselves. All the reviews of actual users I've seen with windows 8.1 do not mention any serious scaling problems, just trivial stuff with some old software. So please, stop the scaremongering..

Erm the pixel density is better suited at this size for this res compared to 4k in this size. I agree with Linus on this topic. 4K at the moment is pointless in practice for PC usage. Of course it's not 4K, Nowhere is it stated as being 4K and that's the whole point of it, to not be 4K.

The GFX power grunt needed to run 4K is just too high (games), you have to spend ££££ on a 4K monitor and then another ££££ getting a rig to run it!

I hoping to get decent framerates (3440X1440) with 2 x 7970s (crossfire).

I'd be very interested in this monitor myself, it looks like it would be great for watching movies or sport. You wouldn't want to do browsing at the full res, i'd probably set it lower for browsing with black side bars then go full screen for everything else.

Any ideas what LG's aftercare and warranty is like, how long do you normally get on a monitor ?

Oh yeah, full screen web browsing on any widescreen monitor is just being silly. The benefit with 16:9 1440P @ 27" for example is you can have a browser window on one half full screened and the other half with a video window and you can enjoy both contents t the most degree. Something like the UM95 means you can get a nice 1440 pixel high browser window that's say 1280 wide< perfect for website browsing, and have a video or youtube window open and have a much better video window.

I was looking around for prices for this. Then i came across the LG 34UM65-P

Thought it was the same! but its a 34" 2560x1080 version.

Thought the price was to good to be true!

I never full screen browse anyway. Its always window browsing, at less of the screen size. Resolutions are way too big for full screen browsing, unless u zoom the page a lot.

I'm tempted by this monitor, just so I can have multiple windows open side by side, full screen gaming and movies :)

finally an upgrade to my 30" 1600p as there is no way I would downgrade in size no matter the resolution bump.

I just hope my current VESA mount for a 27" will hold the weight of this bad boy, I think it will... ~£850 smackeroos though, ouch!

some info on your VESA mount please?
