A thread Biz thought of yesterday, basically how do you want your side to line up next season? Obviously some formations/players are better in some games than others but in general what do you want to see from your club in 12/13?

From a United perspective assuming we dont sign anyone else I'd really like us to ditch 4-4-2 and lineup so;

--------------De Gea--------------
Rafael---Smalling---Vidic---Evra
--------------Carrick--------------
------Cleverley------Kagawa------
Valencia------Rooney------Nani

Subs: Lindegaard, Ferdinand, Jones, Scholes, Young, Welbeck, Hernandez

Leaving the likes of Evans, Powell, Giggs & Anderson also in the squad

--------------De Gea--------------
Rafael-Ferdinand---Vidic-----Evra
----------Schweinsteiger----------
--Cleverley/Anderson-Kagawa------
Valencia------Rooney------Nani

We have a few injuries but ideally:

----------Sir Chesney

Sagna--Koscielny--Vermaelan--Santos

-------Arteta--Song--Wilshere

The Ox-------------------Podolski

------------Giroud

The rest: Fab, Theo, Diaby, Chamakh, Gibbs, Mertersacker, Jenkinson, Ramsey, Rosicky, Gervinho, Djourou etc

I guess Jenkinson will stand in for the injured Sagna and Diaby for Wilshere until they return.

Great squad on paper if we are lucky with injuries.

how I think AVB will line up:

--------------New GK--------------
Walker----Vertonghen----Kaboul----BAE
New Winger----Sigurdsson/Sandro----VDV----Bale
--------Adebayor------New Striker-------

It will be very attacking I can assure you of that :p

-----------Friedel/Lloris
Walker - Kaboul - Vertonghen - BAE
--Sigurdsoon - Sandro - VDV
---Lenon - Adebayor - Bale

Could play the same but with VDV behind Ade

-----------Friedel/Lloris
Walker - Kaboul - Vertonghen - BAE
-----Sigurdsoon - Sandro
--------------- VDV
----Lenon - Adebayor - Bale

Im not sure at the moment, we wont get a new winger, GDS will get his chance under AVB and wont be sold. We need to get a Modric replacement in, VDV could start on the bench.....To be honest until the full squad is in at spurs its all up in the air.

Just to play along Southampton will probably look like this:

--------------K Davis---------------
Clyne---Fonte---Hooiveld---Fox-----
--------------Schniderlin------------
------Cork------S Davis-------------
Rodriguez------Lambert------Lallana

Subs: Gazza, Richardson, New Cb, Guly, Lee, Sharp, Hammond

Will all change a bit come the opening game (doubt Lee will be 100% fit and we are supposed to be in for all sorts of players) and hopefully we have a fox challenger in soon enough.

Reina
Johnson -- Agger -- Skrtel -- Enrique
Lucas
Gerrard -- Allen(?)/Erm...
Borini -- Suarez -- Downing

We need some players :(

Indeed, I was trying to decide which of their defenders to stick in! My best mate is a Soton fan as well so I try and follow them as much as I can.

We only have 2 at the moment with a chance of playing in the prem :p

Thanks for contributing, could do with knowing how Southampton will line up for FF reasons :)

No problem :)

That's not the best representation of the formation as it presumes quite a lot of width from forward players. Usually the left and right backs are encouraged forward a lot on the overlap and the rest of our forward players are a bit tighter but it'll look more or less like that with mostly those players (record signing is Rodriguez so I'm expecting him to start games)

That's assuming we get Lucas. If not, Young/Valencia and Nani can play on the wings.

If we get RvP (which I very much doubt), I'll have to review it.

---------K.Davis----------
Clyne---Fonte---Jos---Fox
--------Schniderlin--------
Cork------S.Davis------Lallana
-----Lambert---Rodriguez---

Extremely difficult to pick a Saints team without seeing how the new players fit into the squad. Cork is much better in the centre but seeing as we haven't got a proper RM yet it'll be between him and Guly out there.
Could easily be more like Pingwings formation but feel that playing both Lallana and Rodriguez that far up would be too attacking away to Man City.
Subs - Gazza, Richardson, Guly, Lee (if fit), Sharp and maybe two new signings.

I do agree that we probably wont go all our attack against city (and Lallana wont be so high up as he never really has been) but I don't see Cork being so much out wide on the right.

For that shape Davis and Cork would be in the middle with Lallana "in the hole" behind the two strikers with Lallana and Lambert drift out wide when needed.

Looking forward to Ajax on Saturday for the first proper indication to what sort of shapes we will play. Plus we really should sign a RM at some point soon, really doubt we will play Puncheon much (hopefully not at all).

In regards to FF and southampton,

Clyne is a bargin @ 4.0 hes a great wingback.

Lambert and Lallana are 6.0 and Schniderlin is 4.5 who are all also bargains ;) (and guaranteed starters 95% of the time) Shame you can only have 3 players per team though.

---------Aguero---------
Silva-----Tevez-----Balotelli
------Yaya----Nasri------
Clichy-Komp---Lesc--Richards
------------Hart------------
Sub; Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Kolarov, Milner, Johnson, Razak and K Toure.

We have signings imminent according to a guy on the city forums so this might change but for our first game v Southampton that's how I would line up.

Pretty much this, although if we have to hang on to RvP until January it becomes a bit complicated.

Krul
Debuchery/Colo/Taylor/Santon
Ben Arfa/Tiote/Cabaye/Guti
Ba/Cisse

Depends on transfers as we still need to sign Deb then you have potential signings. Be interesting.

--------------Frederici--------------
Gunter---Pearce---Mariappa---Shorey
McCleary--Guthrie--Karacan---McAnuff
------Pogrebnyak------Defoe------

Subs: Kebe, Le Fondre, Gorkss, McCarthy, Leigertwood, Harte, someone else.
