Living Room with in-wall 7.1.4 and PJ

more power is better than not enough, could be expensive blowing reference tweeters. Reason why I went dedicated amps, as my drivers are no longer available, so rather buy a amp rather blowing treble drivers.

Now use ATI 2000 series amplifiers. 200W into 8ohm, 300W into 4ohm, all channels driven. hehehe

Its much easier to blow good speakers with a crap amp than it is to blow crap speakers with a good amp.

No I don't mean your amp is crap

Correct, using an amplifier that is under powered can damage speakers, if you run out of power and it goes into clipping.

Also "good" speakers is irrelevant, it's the speaker design - impedance and sensitivity, not cost. His Kef, and my speakers are 4ohm.

If you get a speaker that is 4ohm and low sensivity, and it's a large room it's possible you can be going into clipping.

Today the floor was finished, the skirting and we got a new door on the hinges – yet to get a handle.

We cannot take living in the dining room anymore and are going to move into the lounge – even though the electrician hasn’t finished, we’ve also got to paint the skirting and do some touch ups.

Fantastic! I really think the blue works really well, the floor compliments it nicely.

I did wonder if you were going to break it up with white skirtying. Whilst some will argue its distracting. I am glad you did. Like you say. Its a living room when not in "movie mode" :D

What flooring boards are they? Dark stained oak of some kind? Real/engineered? And what specific paint? (sorry if posted aleady, mustve missed it).

Thanks, will be stealing soon :) may take a while to save for the speakers tho, v v nice!

Just had a quick google, were the boards pre-finished, or did you apply a nitro-ebony wax/stain yourselves?

Wow you went through all that trouble then installed it the wrong way round...lol

Bet you'll be well chuffed when youve installed it properly.
