Liz Truss' huge net worth as she's entitled to £115k per year for the rest of her life

Lol Labour in power, The labour leader that told boris to resign and later on we found out he did the same and refused to resign.

Most of the problems come from the remain MPs not wanting to put their own personal agenda aside.

Civil service top heads are mostly remain and are doing everything to cause problems.

When Boris comes back he needs to continue to clear out those in the civil service. He was midway through the clean up.

There are people in the civil service that have to much control and have been their too long.

I don’t like David or May.
OMG. that is some revisionism to blame remainers for the disgrace that is our government.

Out of everyone (even Dorries and Truss) BoJo is the last I want in. he is a disgrace , fired multiple times for lying, now has a record for breaking his own rules, facing possible trouble for actual lying to parliament . he is a snake in the worst possible sense.

btw never voted labour in my life but this conservative government has meant I will vote whoever it takes to get them out next time ... for where I live that is labour but would throw my hat into libdems or green if I thought they would take the seat from this lot .

PS media left wing? Jesus. I would bet more people read the mail, express, times and sun (edit I forgot the torygraph!) far more than the guardian and mirror combined.
(and the less said about the spectator the better)
the independent is/was centralist but can't remember the last time I saw that on the newsstand

The police saw a difference in many cases, and later on changed their mind, because there was bias, or rules were not properly followed in their investigation.

"authorised person reasonably believed" only 20 years later can there be a good investigation. when there is no link to current political views.

Media is very much left-wing and can alter the views of the investigating party, no matter how much you say don't read the media.
Come back in 20 years then and let me know if anything has changed. In the present Keir Starmer has no case to answer and Boris Johnson was issued with a fixed-penalty notice which he paid.

Chilcot inquiry and labour the lie that killed 1000s of people.

what is your point?
I am not saying in the history of time all conservative governments have been criminal, lazy liars who bought the country to its knees and labour have always been a shining beacon of honesty and competence.

I am saying THIS government have done that, and as far as I can tell the current opposition appear to be a better choice. it will take decades to sort out the crisis we are facing now. some of it due to covid and Putin but their decisions have meant we are getting hit harder than pretty much every economy except Russia.

This crisis has been going on for 20 years possibly more, each government has added layers upon layers.

Same, I will be voting Labour or Green at the next election, never thought id be saying that.

Thanks to Gordon Brown, foreigners have an added advantage over British buyers when buying houses. If they buy shares in an offshore firm that owns the London property, rather than buying the house directly, they pay stamp duty of 0.5% (the rate due on share purchases) rather than at 4% (the rate due on the purchase of houses costing more than £500,000). This cuts the tax bill on a £5 million house from £200,000 to £25,000.

The flood of foreign money coming into the London property market has driven the rest of the market up. Rich London buyers are forced out of the most desirable areas into less desirable parts of London, thereby pushing the price up in the area where they do buy. The successful British couple who have a couple of million to spend and thought they would quite like a place in Knightsbridge have to settle for Notting Hill because everything in Knightsbridge is being bought by foreigners who, because of Britain's generous tax deals, are at a huge advantage. And the couple who thought they could buy a nice place in Notting Hill for one and a half million can now only afford a place in Paddington. And the people who thought they would buy somewhere in Paddington can only afford somewhere in Isleworth. And the couple who were going to buy in Isleworth are forced out to Reading. And so it goes. Property prices are being pushed up from below (because of all those people putting their pension money into flats instead of pension funds) and they are being pulled up from above by all the foreigners buying expensive properties in London.

Brown deliberately and cold-bloodedly destroyed pensions for those Britons not employed by the Government, more and more people have been putting their savings into property rather than pension

When fixed rates rise, the mark-to-market of your long fixed rate swap position falls. And your excess collateral buffer is reduced. It probably needs replenishing at some point. Maybe immediately. Like right now. And if you simply can’t replenish it and triggers are hit, your counterparty might simply liquidate all the collateral you’ve posted and close the position.

There is no party that will act in the people's interests.

And Liz should not get a penny, there should be a min time of 5 years before any pm gets wage for life.

ROFL, after more than 12 years to put things right you're still excusing everything they've done. (and before you say it you are excusing them because you are refusing to hold them to account for not putting things right)

Labour had the same time to put things right, and they never did. what's your argument here?
Oh, that's right it was longer than 12 years.

An initial £13bn of private sector-funded investment in new hospitals will end up costing the NHS in England a staggering £80bn by the time all contracts come to an end, the IPPR thinktank has found.

Some trusts are having to spend as much as one-sixth of their entire budget on repaying debts due as a result of the PFI scheme. PFI was introduced by John Major’s Conservative government but its use proliferated in the Blair era .
“Toxic PFI contracts are still driving billions away from patients and into private bank accounts,” said Chris Thomas, an IPPR health fellow, who carried out the research.

Labour in Scotland managed to build only 6 new council houses
Its sad but true, the last time Labour had control of Scotland it only managed to build six new council houses, that’s less than one a year,

Very easy to blame Liz, Tories. btw I never liked Liz. This is a mess of all parties.

No one said they didn't but just because they didn't it does make the fact that the current government also hasn't, two wrongs don't make a right. What you're essentially doing is excusing bad behaviour, it's like blaming the guy who left the company 12 years ago for you doing badly at you job or excusing a murderer because they had a rough upbringing. It's no wonder our political class are so awful when some people are so blinkered they can't even recognise bad when it's slapping them in the face.

Show me where anyone said otherwise.

I'm amazed we as a people put up with modern politics - its all absurd & shows how well the media con people into thinking what they want us to think.

If people sat down and had a good think for a minute, millions would march on Westminster & install a government that actually works for them.

lethargy I think. I bitch and Moan but because I can afford to pay my bills and have a so so life style (I don't do much and am easily pleased) so just let it go. most of the UK are like that now.

The French take it too far the other way but I think there is a compromise somewhere in the middle I think

The French have the exact right idea - if you're paying someone to run the country you live in, you want value for money, not be taken for a ride.

2 years from now it will probably change again......... but right now is there such a thing as a safe seat for the blue team?

Unsure if there is or not, just that this area has been blue for a long time and last election was blue by a fairly big margin.

We need a PR system, compromise and cooperation. Two party system sucks balls, USA is even worse than here.
