Liz Truss' huge net worth as she's entitled to £115k per year for the rest of her life

To be honest it's such a small drop in the ocean compared to the government spend in general. Also as awful as she was it's the process. Should it / could it be challenged? Yes of course. But in the grand scheme of things 115k per year is not a lot. Sure it's a decent salary but meh.

Despite her failures the path to PM is not something I'd ever want to endure. Don't get me wrong I am no fan of the conservatives but I can't really get in a froth about it.

That said I did like the comment mentioned here about surviving on UC but that would only work if they were IN politics. There's an argument that politicians should be on minimum wage so that they're doing it for the right reasons.

There does seem to be a disproportionate swing in politics of wealthier than average people. But if you take family wealth out of it, other than the second homes thing I wouldn't want to do their job for the money.... There undoubtedly are a few more "salt of the earth" type politicians unfortunately it's such an incestuous and nepotistic arena that I doubt the better people would ever get as much limelight.

Well none of those parties are going to win
at this point info not care which way they swing I just want a government who are competent, not corrupt and at least have a pretence of putting country before their own personal agenda. We have not had that for well over half a decade.

For now at least, no matter how they shuffle the pack that is not the current lot. we need a General Election (and if the Tories get in again then at least there can be absolutely no doubt we deserve what we get)

The problem is that we have a dangerously destructive Tory right-wing; before 2016 these zealot Tories were never going to get a sniff of real political power. Then along came the EU referendum, the zealot/disaster capitalist right-wingers lied their socks off and aided by their friends in the gutter press and expert social media manipulators they narrowly won the vote. They then ascended to power, which is what they REALLY wanted all along. Boris Johnson went from joke backbencher MP to Foreign Secretary then on to Prime Minister, never in his wildest dreams could he have imagined it!

They never gave a toss about improving the economy and they certainly don't care about relieving poverty. Politics is all about acquiring power and that's also what Brexit was about, but not "people power", it was about the selfish Tory far-right taking power for itself and its cronies.

There's not going to be a General Election until the end of 2024/January 2025. The Tories are currently 36 points behind Labour and that will take a couple of years to reverse if they finally get a sensible competent leader. To have a GE over 80 Tory MPs must rebel against the 3-line whip and vote that they have no confidence in the government. That would be like Turkeys voting for Christmas. They would have to get real jobs!

Lol Labour in power, The labour leader that told boris to resign and later on we found out he did the same and refused to resign.

Most of the problems come from the remain MPs not wanting to put their own personal agenda aside.

Civil service top heads are mostly remain and are doing everything to cause problems.

When Boris comes back he needs to continue to clear out those in the civil service. He was midway through the clean up.

There are people in the civil service that have to much control and have been their too long.

I don’t like David or May.

Lol corruption has been about longer than a decade. Think you need to go to Blair’s government.

People who have pension need to look at what Gordon brown did since 2000.

Some here are so hard labour or anti conservative l, have so much hate towards them they can’t see what the other groups have done. No matter what you say they will never accept the corruption by other parties.

Btw the Russian corruption started under labour.

Keir Starmer said he would resign if he was found to have breached lockdown regulations. The police found there was no case to answer.

Boris Johnson was issued with a fixed-penalty notice for breaching lockdown regulations. He chose not to resign.

I think most people would struggle to differentiate

Yeah I mean, they're both basically having drinks/food with people they work with, but they're all going to spread covid working closely with each other anyway so it's whatever. The rules were technically broken by Boris but not Keir, but the rules were pretty broad and designed for work places like offices, Politicians work differently so the lines are a little blurry since they're eating at work and Boris lives at Downing Street, work events can also be social events, etc. Boris should've known better but it's hardly some egregious act he's committed.

That act in isolation, yes but the man has been proven to be a consistent liar and feckless moron. Partygate was just the straw that broke the camel's back

yea cos it's really the same thing right because bvoris took a break during work to have a party, and then they continued working after....

Look at keirs party, the thing people do every day at breakfast, dinner and teatime, how boring!!! who would want this guy as PM he can't even throw a party right! PATHETIC KEIR!!!

@Mrwong is definitely struggling to differentiate. Only Boris Johnson breached lockdown regulations.
Beergate, that is all I have to say. I dont see any difference.

  • Labour said Angela Rayner was also at event last year after a series of denials
  • Admission came only after Labour officials confronted with video evidence .

list of lies

Picture says otherwise. Police may look back and change their mind.

Paying a fine does not mean being guilty.

The police saw a difference and it's their decision which counts, not your opinion.

The police had all the evidence, pictures etc. It's highly unlikely they'll change their mind.

Paying a fine does not mean being guilty.
It's not a formal admission of guilt, a fixed-penalty notice was issued where an authorised person reasonably believed there had been a breach of the lockdown regulations. The PM chose to pay the FPN to avoid prosecution.

The police saw a difference in many cases, and later on changed their mind, because there was bias, or rules were not properly followed in their investigation.

"authorised person reasonably believed" only 20 years later can there be a good investigation. when there is no link to current political views.

Media is very much left-wing and can alter the views of the investigating party, no matter how much you say don't read the media.
