Location location location.. (England) Advice Welcomed

Not sure if this post is serious but just in case:
You say that you are in your "late 20's" and now have "Loadsamoney" but don't give any indication as to what you do with your life day to day.
You say that you are single with few friends and no close family but want to live near to Pubs and Restautants.
I believe that the North of England is much more open and welcoming than the South - and certainly than is the South East.
Frankly your "issues" may not be resolved by relocating, you may well still end up disappointed.

I gave as much info as I felt was required/I wanted to share. You don't know until you try - such is life. :)

I've lived in a fair few places in the uk, now in my early thirties and bought a house in Lincoln 4 years ago, enjoying life currently, it's a quiet part of the country and like you said, pretty laid back.
Good access to the a46 and A1 which is handy for traveling and the house prices are reasonable.
You've got Nottingham and Sheffield around 45mins away if you want city life or gigs/footy/ice hockey/comedy events/busier nights out etc. Lincolnshire wilds and the peak District aren't too far either if you want the outdoor life, there's some nice beaches up the coast too, not many surfable ones if you're into that, but great to take the dog for a walk or just to chill for the day.
Newark is another option which is 15 mins away, it's where I go to work, a nice little town, has its bad parts like anywhere but has great travel links and some great villages on the outskirts of it.

Leicestershire, plenty of villages

would avoid Leicester and Loughborough though

close to derby and Nottingham for work / life too
