London Bridge Incident

Girlfriends friend was on the bridge as it happened! She said the van ran people over, she of course ran and she's okay other than the shock but from what she saw the guy/guys jumped out and started stabbing people. - she's not 100% sure on that of course as she was running away..

******* sickening.

Just had a chap on Sky News saying he could clearly hear gunfire.

It would make a difference. We don't need **** like this in our society. A piece of rope is cheap and can be used many, many times so very cost effective, unlike sticking them in prison for life.

That goes for peodo's etc as well.

Make it public, charge an enterance fee. I'm sure there's plenty of people (me being one of them) would gladly pay to see them hang, I don't mind pulling the handle either.

It would make zero difference, and in fact make them martyrs. Oh right let people see martyrs be executred in front of people? LOL. That's what they want.

You're thinking like a westerner, who values his own life.

Does anyone know how it works in terms of specialist police response.

It's late on a Friday night. Are there specialist officers always on duty to respond to such an incident in London. Or will it be a case of calls going out to specialist officers at home about to go bed saying URGENT get on duty now or similar.

Looking at the videos on the news. There are people in Pajamas on the street. As if a hotel has been evacuated.

She said police started firing etc

If thats true. Then well done to the police for a swift response

The ex soldier on the news said the police arrived extremely quick after he heard gun fire. Gun fire could be armed officers stationed near there. There are a lot of police around all the time in London now.

:| is London bridge in the city centre at all?

Because if it is, we should just pedestrianize it and be done with issues like this.

Yes it is, at least it's close enough for there to have been a lot of people on it.

All London bridges should have those barriers up after this and Westminster.

There's a set of specialist guys ready to go 24x7. Maybe not in the past but the Mumbai attack and the one in Paris mean that they are ready to go

Too many businesses around there that need the access - tight security control of commercial traffic might reduce but couldn't eliminate these kind of attacks.

They always have armed police on the streets. Something like 3000 firearms officers in London now. Was mentioned on The Met documentary on BBC this week.
