London Bridge Incident

Counter-terrorism funding has gone up.

Which deals with the plots, they are mainly analysts. Yes it helps and clearly they have foiled a number of plots.

But if they miss one, then it comes down to the police who have been cut. Seems mad to increase one designed to prevent and cut one designed to deal with the ones they miss.

And scorza still waiting for your evidence the police were cowards and ran away? If you haven't got any you shouldn't be allowed to comment anymore in this thread with your lies.

The sad thing about this is that i'm not shocked anymore its becoming more and more frequent and soon to be the norm. Excellent response by the police anyone complaining about 8 minutes needs to really give there head a wobble.

We have one group [the sikhs] fully integrated into our society.

No they aren't. They keep to their own community, marry within their own community, keep their own values and their own beliefs. They live peaceably amongst the wider community they're imbedded in just like they do elsewhere but thats not integration.

Separation and "not us" leads to conflict. Its the lesson from history. At least Sikhs are not proselytyzing and do not seek to enforce their views and values on others Islam is though it tells its believers to infiltrate and conquer and convert the unbelievers. That been its history from its beginnings. Thinking that we depose middle eastern dictators we don't like and the country will fall into a western style liberal democracy was our first mistake , the allowing of mass immigration of unvetted and mostly unskilled people of the same belief in the mistaken view that they would automatically fall into the arms of our hard won liberal society and shake off nearly two millenia of cultural history and indoctrination was our second.

Counter-terrorism funding has gone up.

Hey scorza, you must have missed my reply to the last time you said this, so I quoted it again:

Where is counter-terrorism funding spelt out anywhere? I was under the impression the security services had their budgets cut in real terms as the Single Intelligence Account hadn't grown but was now expected to also cover elements of the Joint Security Fund.

Attacking the people paid an absolute pittance to keep us safe after constant budget cuts based on one witness report and a load of alt-right articles is low even for you. Absolutely pathetic. The police are not the problem here.
I never said the police were the problem here. The fact that people had to wait eight minutes for the sort of police who can actually deal with this situation is. I'm sure it is an impressive achievement to get those police officers from wherever they were to London Bridge in eight minutes, but that doesn't alter the fact that people died and were maimed in those eight minutes.

I suspect if you were actually there, eight minutes would seem like a very long time.

Which part of "counter-terrorism funding has been increased" are you having trouble understanding?

I imagine 1 minute would feel long, thats not what you said though. Counter terrorism has received funding in very specific areas, namely cyber, I know 2 ex-officers which took voluntary redundancy 18 months ago because of funding cuts to officer levels. Its way too simplistic to say CT has been given more money and a reduction of 20,000 officers across forces can have nothing but a negative effect.

So what would you propose instead? Armed police every hundred or so meters on every busy street in the country?

As if last night wasnt terrible enough

Kay Burley has turned up for another all day reporting session. them poor people/

And as for people on this forum saying the police ran away... sky reporting that the first copper on the scene fought off all 3 of them at once and was seriously injured. so yea

Tough measures maybe but rounding people up without trial is so fundamentally opposed to what our society is built upon it depresses me that so many would readily rush to it as the ideal solution.

Tough times call for tough measures

It didn't take eight minutes to get them there, it took eight minutes from the first 999 call to three dead terrorists. That's spectacular. I can barely get my shoes on in eight minutes.
