London violence reaching epidemic proportions

Probably not enough crack down on drugs and not enough stop and search.

While (the dealing of) drugs is incredibly likely the reason behind most violence, you can NEVER win the war on drugs. It's impossible, and there's almost a century of evidence and trillions of dollars spent to support that statement.

You can win, it just needs a different approach. North Korea seem to do just fine!

Suprisingly Russia seem to have it mostly under control as well. It's socially taboo and the sentences for drug related stuff are harsh (off to gulag).

There is also Philippine way as well I suppose. It's violent as hell, but I bet there are a lot less drug dealers now :D

No you haven't, you have made some nonsense claims. Not once does the article mention a distance limit.

This one is from Birmingham and has travelled quite a distance.

I'm guessing you think it's nonsense because there's a fundamental lack of understanding on your behalf, i assumed such a simple notion wouldn't need explaining but i guess i overestimated.

Major cities would be places like London, Cardiff, Manchester, etc, etc. Rural areas and smaller towns would be located outside of those major cities, Cardiff would have it's own rural areas and smaller towns, Manchester the same, etc, etc. A rural area or smaller town is geographically associated with the city that it's part of, you don't say a rural area or smaller town outside of Cardiff is a rural area or smaller town of London and visa versa. It didn't think a place being associated with the place it actually exists in would be that complex, i would've thought that when someone mentions the rural areas or smaller towns of Cardiff they mean Cardiff and not some place 150 miles away.

Your second attempt further reinforces that, he travelled from Cardiff to 20 miles past Port Talbot. He was from Birmingham, he did not travel from Birmingham, at least not on the day he was arrested and one would assume from this statement..."Edwards has significant history for possessing drugs with intent to supply, along with violent offences including stabbings and robberies in Cardiff." that he's resided in Cardiff for quiet sometime.

Just admit you were wrong. No idea why you are so obtuse in nearly every thread you post in.

Thailand launched a massive assault on drugs many years ago and seemed to have got it under control. Not to say you can't get them, but it's a huge risk.

I have mixed feelings about legalising some drugs - on the one hand you can tax it but on the other they really can turn some people into thieving, lying wasters.

Not sure what they're using as a source (paywall for that info) but the ONS seems to disagree. Although i could be reading statista wrong as they're measuring the totally amount of knife crime whereas the ONS measure it per 1k of population, either way while knife crime in London is the highest it's not seen as big an increase from last year when compared to other regions, London +7%, but Gwent is +56%, and Essex is +51%. Even what i think most people would consider the rural idyll of Devon and Somerset saw a rise of 15%.

Gwent may have increased by 56%, but has rather low rates (220 last year), which means small numerical increases show up as large proportional rises. Gwent has fewer knife crimes than nearly every London Borough, by way of comparison.

Gwent's rate has, however, more than doubled over 4 years, which is pretty impressive.

I live in Gwent police area, which is why this caught my eye.
