look how big these "knives" are though... they are machetes, swords and zombie knives that would probably rip your flesh to pieces.

It depends what bullet your talking about but it's probably only a 9mm from a hand gun, not some hollow point from an ak47.

I wonder what percent of london stabbing victims survive compared to people with a gunshot wound.

it doesn't seem like many of the stabbing victims survive? where as people like tupac/50cent got shot multiple times and lived.

if it was someone with a knife they probably would be dead imo.

or did tupac get stabbed and shot ?

btw people with knives in the street probably stab prison style not one or to thrusts and run

My boy jabbed me in the groin with a wooden sword when we were playing pirates once. It hurt more than the time he shot me with a toy bb gun.

Not sure how helpful that is?

Soft tissue damage can be horrendous, especially if it tumbles. Yeah a knife can be deadly if you are stabbed in the right place but its no contest for me.

i's not the getting stabbed that does the most damage, it's the taking it out again.

I think it would depend on which gun and bullet and which blade, but in general with the weapons most likely to be carried by a violent criminal in the USA or the UK I'd rather get stabbed than shot if that was the choice and it was one stab or one bullet. Gunshot injuries tend to be much worse than their common onscreen portrayal in which someone gets shot in episode 2 and is fully recovered by episode 5 because it was only a soft tissue wound.

But if we're talking about facing someone with the weapon, then at very close range I'd probably pick the person with the gun. You're pretty screwed either way, but if they're within grappling distance I think my chances would be less bad against a person with a gun.
 
Thing with a knife/machette/blade, it's sadistic and takes someone up close virtually eye to eye with a different mindset to someone who might fire a gun. When someone shoots a gun from a distance, it's disconnected, the shooter will rarely immediately see the outcome of what they've done.

Both are still bad, I just feel that someone committed to killing with a knife is inherently more dangerous and unhinged than a 'potential' coward with a gun.

You can do yea, or you could get stabbed once and die, like in this....

I guess id rather be stabbed than shot but I think theres this almost blaise attitude to knives, when you can be killed very easily with one in reality. Those three guys in Reading were killed very quickly from one guy for example, and unfortuntely we're not allowed anything to defend ourselves in this country, not even pepper spray.

My point is, someone prepared to use a gun and shoot without the face to face up close aspect might not have the same conviction to use a knife on someone. Conversely, almost certainly someone willing to stab would be willing to also use a gun.
 
To settle this debate: the stabbing scene in saving private Ryan is much worse to watch than any of the gun fire scenes.

The only exception to shooting being worse than stabbing is the RoboCop uncut edition where they mame him up close with shut guns.
