Long time no see. Upgrade time.

Yeah ain't that the way bro lol.

I might use some black vinyl over the glass tbh. I mean I never see it due to where it is set up but yeah...

We'll see. I should be starting on it early October. Had a marathon of things to do before I go away for a week then it is back to this.

Actually I forgot, I DO have an update. I have had one of the most manic weeks of my life. I decided to do a few things at home that I did not realise would take days. First job was mounting a 27 inch IPS above my bed on a bracket. That is now done, Fire stick connected and then connected to a Bose bluetooth speaker I have had on my wall since I moved in.

Also after many months of serious issues with no resolution I decided to look elsewhere for broadband. Was with Now, but it seems the price belies the help you get when it does not work - none. I know the router is knackered because it keeps rebooting. 11 times on Sunday and 6 on Monday. As such after a lot of research...

You need to check coverage very carefully, though.

I am about 20 metres up in the top of a building surrounded by antennae? is that the correct word for a S load of them? Any way, it screams.

Sadly it seems my switch is also rubbish. I kinda knew this when I bought it but they were proper expensive then 18 months ago and it cost me 60 quid for a four port. So I bought this used for 76.

I also forgot the goodies are all here.

I mean come on man. Tizer and coffee. Days don't get better than that :D

Also you can see from the pic I changed out my rear speakers as well as doing a bum load of wiring on the AV front so these.

Will now be used on the PC. Well, once I have given them a good clean.

Quick update minus pics.

The inside of the PC is mostly done. Pics inbound later today as I have sort of no PC to post them from.

What I mean is the PC I was going to use (a very high end NUC) started acting up whilst I was on holiday. I was supposed to be using it as a stand in whilst this one was down but discovered it had a malware type virus on it that can't be removed.

Turns out it uses the winring vulnerability which MS have now banned and key Logs. Seems it came from the 60% Chinese keyboard I bought but thankfully can't log much as I've only ever used it for gaming and don't type on it.

That meant it will need nuking completely and I just haven't had time to do that yet. Hence the no pics as im posting on my phone.

Will upload them later.

The coolant flush didn't go so well and will need the rig draining out first completely. Something else I've not had time for or enough coolant in clear so its now a very light shade of lavender lmao.

Fans are absolutely superb though.

OK so first job (and the hardest) was to remove the GPU. This was so I could get to the MB's USB sockets to add in the hub I got. Crap brand, but worked very well.

It didn't even need power connecting to it. Get out the second set.

And then slowly start adding them. This was extremely hard with the loop in place but I got there eventually. These are exhausts, the reverse blades are in the roof on intake. I have not assigned anything to them yet apart from the Lian Li movie.

And then to start flushing the loop. This was not ideal, as I found out later. I used all of the 1 litre bottle and it ended up pink. It needs a proper drain out, so I need to make a blow tube. Didn't have time yet. I will buy more coolant when I go back home.

And done for now. It's finished this side apart from a drain but that isn't hard.

So whilst away I took my NUC. I use this for the LAN, and gaming from the holiday apartment. However, it turns out the keyboard I bought for 18 quid from somewhere else installs its own virus via a Winring exploit. So I asked my mate to smash it with a hammer. I bought this initially bone stock to replace it from B grade for £38, but when it arrived I fell in love. I will not buy anything but Ducky now. I have had three Chinese boards in a row up and die and none were particularly cheap either. So I decided to make it mine, and will use it on this PC back home.

I only got the keychain so I didn't have to pay postage.

It's been known for a while that you could install malware/viruses by getting someone to plug in a USB...but I don't think I've seen it actually in the wild before. Nasty.

You can blow....or you can suck! Everyone needs a wet vac (pick 'em up from Screwfix for £45). Why? First time you spill something or the washing machine decides to flood your floor or you need to unbung a sink or change a rad. Gold, I tell you. Point? Also good for assisting in loop draining! :D

Microsoft have now banned winring.

It was how RGB software used to access the hardware but allowed direct to metal access.

Just placed another order. XSPC have this wild coolant that's RGB reactive so I thought it was fitting. This time though I've bought two.

Edit. I have a spot cleaner which sucks wet things. Never thought to use it that way (ooer)

Is that the luminara stuff? that's ****ing wild! I'm still sitting on a bottle of UV clear that I've yet to use... not sure if it goes off (it's a 3-5yr+ overdue rebuild!)
Edit: the stuff I have is mayhems xt1 uv clear blue....

It's amazing how much software relied on winring!

I found a thread on OCUK and the admin said they may be able to embed the pics.

I've switched hosts and found out how to display the full sized pics moving forward.

For now I've downloaded Opera and view the older posts with the free VPN.

It sucks because I hate politics and these Logs are my escape but it seems no matter how I try and avoid it I've been annoyed by it.

As you said earlier, I can't say that I blame them for the Brexit (nice term you've got there, think I'll purloin that!). I guess it's what happens when you make half-baked laws without a clue as to their effect, the plausibility of abiding by them or even their enforceability. "You shall pay us a fine for not doing what we say" "Yeah? Make us!" and there endeth the arguement for a company not physically or personally present in the UK and chosing to no longer do business here.
Apparently you can get your data back from them via some sort of recovery procedure. Although you'd then have to relink every single one of them once uploaded to a new service. Self-host for the win! My pics, my service, my problem. If you've not got a static IP, you could always use a free Cloudflare tunnel to self-host with a dynamic IP - you're running a NAS 24x7 anyway, right?

I can get the photos back either by asking them or by using a VPN. Problem is replacing them all in threads. Yeah, no thanks.

The govt are trying to spy on people. Next thing we will need IDs. Just how they did that ID thing and kids found ways around it in seconds using AI. All it serves to do is pee people off. It won't protect a single child because they will find ways around it as kids always do. The problem is not photos on IMGUR. I know this because many moons ago I uploaded a pic of Alyx with no clothes on and it was immediately nuked and I got a warning. So I know full well how strict they are, and how they do not let people upload bad stuff. It was a mod for HL2 way back in the day.

But yeah with ten mins of them blocking prawn sites kids used AI and Norman Reedus to get around the checks ffs.

I just liked how easy to use IMGUR was. The one I used above? yeah a bit more janky. Ah well, at least I can post my pics.

BTW when I say it won't protect a single child? naughty pics on Reddit are not the issue. It's the wolves like Roblox and etc that are targets for PDF files now. Some kid is taking them on as I type this. The problem is, as we all know as adults, kids are kids. We listen to no one and we shove two fingers up at things they tell us we shouldn't do. And that will never change.

It's the parents who need to parent their kids. Not the internet or the govt.

Roblox + Discord + Snapchat and Tiktok. All the things most adults avoid like the clap. Those are the prime hangouts for people looking for kids.
