Lost Ark EU - !!

I've never had a problem getting on a server. But because I have friends in the US I'm using the US East servers.

I'm really enjoying it so far. Only criticism from me are that the quests are a bit rubbish/boring (You're basically everyone's dogsbody). But the combat feels awesome and the rest is really good too. Let's see how my song changes when I realise I need to pay to compete :) Really have been spoiled after POEs free-to-play model.

Predictably enough, Mack from Worthabuy thought it is a "pile of <rhymes with kite>" (quel surprise)

Guy's got his World of Warcraft addiction living rent free in his head about the good old days before they ruined it.

Sort of yeah, basically the crux of what he says is, its not an MMO, you get rewarded with oodles of loot for every tiny action in the game "have another reward, why am I getting all these rewards, here's another reward for asking that" etc, its far too easy "its boring and easy", where are all the players "its like 6 players per instance", you have to play it for 4000 hours before it gets good.

I hope he didn't base his opinion off the levelling experience, given the hours I've spent I'm going to guess he did. End game is where most MMO's start.

He is stuck well in the golden age of games long past and I do think its time he called it a day.

It's his main source of income and as long as people keep watching he'll keep going. He was never my sort of thing but I remember him from his old Mack and Mesh videos which at the time were gold.

i never got into the hype for this one as i generally dont like the asian style of these games, not a fan of final fantasy etc
but the times ive managed to get into the game ive quite enjoyed it.. the combat feels good and im enjoying the pace of the game

as mentioned the quests seem bad but that expected in an MMO i think.. since theyre more about endgame dungeons etc
not 100% set on my class choice (sharpshooter) but im only 9 hours in so ill see how it goes

Would you decide not to buy a game based off somebody playing Dark Souls for 30 minutes and calling it crap because it's to difficult?

I've just watched it, no effort made whatsoever to review the game properly, mind made uo before he went in, stick 20 hours to "justify" a review and then push it out. Content. No more than that.

Point being end game is not where most MMOs start. All the good ones over the years had some great levelling experience. Pinnacle being vanilla wow of course, as yet unparalleled and likely never will be.

Anyway this isn't really an mmo. :D

That's blatantly obvious, you don't know what consitutes an MMO, or what levelling is for.

Tupro explained levelling to you, but that piece of information seems to have bounced off your cranium.

:)

You have misunderstood the point unfortunately. virtually all the top MMO's over the past few years had decent levelling experiences that were very extensive and large parts of the game. An MMO with minimal levelling and/or open world interactions is no MMO at all.

So I will agree to disagree with your "opinion" , enjoy the game. :)

What, you mean when games were actually half-decent, were released in a finished state and without any of the dumbed down **** like x-ray vision, QTEs and massive markers on the screen telling you where to go and what to do?

I agree - but my point is the games industry has moved on for bad or worse and it isnt going back because an old man keeps ranting about it.

A couple of years ago he was one of the best games reviewers out there - I usually agreed with 95% of his verdicts but slowly he has become a parody of himself - now anything that isnt an indie game gets the auto rant treatment - its not objective at all. He used to **** off other reviewers for not putting time into their reviews but now he does the same thing and waves it off because the games so bad he cant play anymore of it. Barely puts 20 hours into a massive game like Lost Ark but feels he is now qualified to **** it off.

Going on about "supposed to need a tank and healer" in a starter dungeon ?!?!? Then admitting he died multiple times. Its just bitter, biased rubbish now.

No I haven't, I think you've misunderstood what levelling is for, there's different ways to achieve this but the end is always the same. It is an MMO - that's a fact, and your "opinion" doesn't change that.
