LOST..... How do you think it will end

That episode was legen... wait for it... dary!

I'm glad it's the religious theme- its the only one which makes any sense given the story so far.

It was a good episode although when the Black Rock is shown at sea and it's all stormy and such, and they see the statue, and then the next minute they are ACTUALLY riding the wave into the statue I was like WTF?!

Not exactly very realistic... and then to add to that the Black Rock ends up in the middle of the jungle in pristine condition, just a few scratches, yet apparently it demolished the statue. Again, I pose the question, WTF?!

Yeah I thought that was a bit crap :/ Was expecting a better answer to why the statue got demolished.

I have been a massive LOST fan since series 1, I have to say im a bit disappointed about this series as I feel that it makes all of the previous series redundant and irrelevant apart from season one.

what was all of the time travel business about? they made a whole season dedicated to that, and it wasnt even a key point in the storyline.

They have only got down to the bottom of the actual plot in the last series it seems.

Agreed about the black rock hitting in the statue remaining unharmed, I thought that was laughable also.

It would be intresting to see where they go with this

Sigh. Jacob brought the ship to the island. Jacob caused the storm. Jacob caused the Black Rock to end up in the middle of the jungle. Yet, your argument is why its doesn't have anything more than a few 'scratches' on it. I think you're missing the point of the episode/series entirely, and focusing on completely irrelevant issues.

These is just no pleasing some people :)

First off, they aren't Gods, if they were Gods then Jacob could have assured Richard that he wouldn't go to hell and he could have reunited him with his wife. The fact that he couldn't alter his fate and whether he goes to heaven or hell means he hasn't got that kind of power, the power of the Gods. He does have certain powers though, therefore being able to make him ageless/unable to die.

Yeh but he could be a saint couldn't he?

Arent they in the place between heaven and hell? (Not earth before some smart ass posts :p)

It could be the Axis Mundi like I suggested a few pages ago. This is a short summary of the Axis Mundi:

The image expresses a point of connection between sky and earth where the four compass directions meet. At this point travel and correspondence is made between higher and lower realms. Communication from lower realms may ascend to higher ones and blessings from higher realms may descend to lower ones and be disseminated to all. The spot functions as the omphalos (navel), the world's point of beginning.

The Man in Black's 'home' could be another realm, therefore the island is a cork stopping him travelling to other realms. This could also be how we have the alternate timeline, on another realm.

What's currently the best theory going for lost then?

I reckon some kind of alien ship or technology, also possibly the leftovers from an advanced ancient civilisation, these two are the guardians of the island, by choice or not as the case may be, black smoke is nanotech, probably only artificial intelligence or was once human but converted, richard is probably kept alive by nanotech as well.

The other possibility is a more metaphysical alien dimensional thing going on.

Well that's if any of this is real and not just something like a mass hallucination or individual in a coma etc.

not directed at anyone in particular but.

Not sure its been stated that Jacob actually caused the storm. The island has some curious meteorological effects, which was mentioned by Damon and Carl in this weeks podcast, and we can expect to see stuff like it in the future iirc.

Also Jacob didn't cause it to end up in the middle of the jungle, it was the tidal wave it was surfing. Which also logically would havecontributed to the statue being destroyed, considering it must have been carrying the black rock with some force when both the ship and the wave collided with the statue. Tidal waves are nasty things :).

All we know is that Jacob brought or 'invited' the ship the island.

Also

It isn't purgatory
It isn't Aliens
The monster isn't a nanotech monster.

These theories have all been discredited by the creators multiple times.

Why the references about being in hell or a place to stop hell spreading in the last episode?

There are no reasonable explanations left that i can think of then, i remember the creators also said it would never have anything to do with time travel and yet they had a whole season of it.

There are certain things in the show that are highly unlikely to be man made, the underground space-time manipulating lever for instance or the intelligent black smoke, if this is meant to be based in reality then the only explanation is advanced technology probably of alien origin, thought i don't discount advanced ancient civilisations like atlantis.

A red herring placed there on purpose to poke fun at people who still believe it. Damon and Carl do that allot on the podcasts.

I'd say the most probably route is ancient civilization. I won't say anything else but spoilers for future episodesthat are floating around kind of lend towards this.
