Smoke me a motherchuffing kipper and I'll be home for breakfast.
It was a good episode although when the Black Rock is shown at sea and it's all stormy and such, and they see the statue, and then the next minute they are ACTUALLY riding the wave into the statue I was like WTF?!
Not exactly very realistic... and then to add to that the Black Rock ends up in the middle of the jungle in pristine condition, just a few scratches, yet apparently it demolished the statue. Again, I pose the question, WTF?!

Yeah I thought that was a bit crap :/ Was expecting a better answer to why the statue got demolished.
First off, they aren't Gods, if they were Gods then Jacob could have assured Richard that he wouldn't go to hell and he could have reunited him with his wife. The fact that he couldn't alter his fate and whether he goes to heaven or hell means he hasn't got that kind of power, the power of the Gods. He does have certain powers though, therefore being able to make him ageless/unable to die.
The place between heaven and hell, as in...pugatory...which was shot down as a possible theory back when the show first started in season one.
The image expresses a point of connection between sky and earth where the four compass directions meet. At this point travel and correspondence is made between higher and lower realms. Communication from lower realms may ascend to higher ones and blessings from higher realms may descend to lower ones and be disseminated to all. The spot functions as the omphalos (navel), the world's point of beginning.
Sigh. Jacob brought the ship to the island. Jacob caused the storm. Jacob caused the Black Rock to end up in the middle of the jungle. Yet, your argument is why its doesn't have anything more than a few 'scratches' on it. I think you're missing the point of the episode/series entirely, and focusing on completely irrelevant issues.
These is just no pleasing some people![]()
not directed at anyone in particular but.
Not sure its been stated that Jacob actually caused the storm. The island has some curious meteorological effects, which was mentioned by Damon and Carl in this weeks podcast, and we can expect to see stuff like it in the future iirc.
Also Jacob didn't cause it to end up in the middle of the jungle, it was the tidal wave it was surfing. Which also logically would havecontributed to the statue being destroyed, considering it must have been carrying the black rock with some force when both the ship and the wave collided with the statue. Tidal waves are nasty things.
All we know is that Jacob brought or 'invited' the ship the island.

Why the references about being in hell or a place to stop hell spreading in the last episode?
