Lost In Space - Netflix reboot

I remember the original version of Lost in Space and the male Dr Smith character could be a little trying but the actor played the role well and overall we were happy enough with his character.

With this reboot series, we are watching episode 6 at the moment, we are coming so close to just stop watching it, and that is mainly due to the Dr Smith character. I''m not sure if it is due to the actress or how she is playing the character but my goodness she is so annoying and completely irritating in that role.
It was surprising to see so far that the Robinson family in this reboot is part of a colony than just being alone and meeting other Alien lifeforms. Seeing that I then wondered if we are in for more of a space opera type of show.
Considering we are over half way through the series we will probably finish it off but there isn't the appeal to just watch more than one episode, as there can be with some TV shows when we have binged several at a time.
Average, in all ways, is the best it has got for us so far.

Had a small binge session on this yesterday, managed 6.5 episodes before wife and daughter came home. I'm liking it so far. I can't say that i dislike smith that much, is there something wrong with me:p.

I liked it enough to watch Season 2. But it's not a memorable show.

It felt like there was a lot of filler. For a 10 episode season, that's particularly poor.

I struggled to make it through this. I don't think I have ever disliked a character as much as Dr Smith and that is really saying something considering people like Ramsey Bolton etc.

I agree. I'm all for unlikeable people in shows when they're meant to create that feeling with the viewer, but it makes no sense that the other characters trust her and open up to her when she's clearly very creepy around everyone. I'm 5 episodes in and at least 3 other people have reason to be very suspicious of her and yet she's got free-roam of everywhere and has barely been challenged on anything she's done. It's simply bad writing.

The audio mix seems odd too, the rear channels are surprisingly loud at times while the centre channel for dialogue seems to go whisper quiet. Expanse had this problem to an extent too.

I'm halfway through the first episode.

There is a precocious child trapped under some ice, I'm alternating between hoping she stays there and wishing that her equally irritating family were down there with her

I will stick this out but to say the characters are currently grating on me is an understatement.

You'll still feel that way at the end of episode 10. I enjoyed it enough to keep watching, but the entire family are unlikeable and the rest of the characters aren't much better.

Finally started watching it over weekend I'm upto episode 7, I don't know if I'm too young to have ever watched the original series or if the film was part of my childhood but this version of Dr Smith is really hard for me to watch.

Finished and still not enjoying Dr Smith, everything else has been good and it's got some of the best CGI outside of film.
I've got the last episode to watch and I cannot stand Dr Smith, she looks constipated all the time and to be honest is not a great character.

I watched it until the end of the series, but man the final episodes were tough. The entire crew are a bunch of imbeciles, they are supposed to be the cream of the crop from what Earth can offer! I've no idea how they built the Resolute if that's the best that Earth can offer.

If it gets renewed, I probably won't bother with watching S2.
