Basically what I've picked up on is that he tried and through physical logistics failed. So only going down as attempted even though he actually tried but just happened to fail because well...it was a baby. Whilst it's a separate crime the sentence in all likelihood will be the same. Hopefully anyway.

So raping a child under 14 carries less penalty than raping an [child of 13+]adult?

I understand that sexual assult carries less of a penalty than rape, but he's pleaded guilty to rape and sexual assault, no?

Hope he rots in prison for the rest of his miserable life. I feel sorry for his band mates who haven't done anything wrong, yet will now find it hard to get work.

Exactly, getting a little tired of people blaming the internet or other technology for their actions. No doubt Cameron will use this to continue on his internet filtering campaign.

i agree it wont solve anything. but also have to think that in 15 years he will be out and most likely trying this again. then what happens?

you would be amazed how many paedos are back in jail weeks after being released for doing the same thing.
