Lostprophets Singer Facing Child Sex Charges

Referring to two women standing alongside Watkins in the dock, Mr Clee said: "Both women sexually abused their own children and made them available to Watkins for him to abuse."

The court was told how the abuse of the children by all parties was also evident in text messages.

Watkins sent a text to one of the women saying: "If you belong to me, so does your baby."

In another exchange with a second woman, she messaged Watkins images of her child saying: "She needs to know mummy and daddy don't love her."

How the hell do you rationalise that to yourself?

As he pleaded guilty only as the trial started then I don't think he should get any reduction in sentence.
He was playing chicken with the courts, hoping they'd drop the case for some reason.

This has been a standard method of dealing with convictions for a long time, anyway.

Like receiving a reduced sentence for not dragging the case out by pleading guilty early.

^^ Really? Come on now.

I was listening to theirs stuff last night, and probably will at the gym today. There first album is a masterpeice.

yeh hes ****ed up, but one singer a band does not make.

I like how baby rape can be plastered all over the BBC lunchtime news but if it's fictional it's 18+ or banned.

It's so weird just sitting here hearing these words come out the television. Quite surreal.

Aside from the victims themselves, I feel sorry for the other band members. Their careers in music have practically been ended by a dispicable act of another member. I can't see how they could ever perform live, even in different bands without being jeered, even though they had nothing to do with it.

I'm sure they had an idea what he was in to....

I too don't think he should get a sentence reduction, but the wording in the story seems to suggest his defence team agreed a compromise with the prosecution in return for his guilty plea.

It does look like he was playing chicken by "furiously denying", thusly making the prosecution think they had a protracted and painful public case on their hands then pulling the rug out by pleading guilty and appearing to "save" people from having to endure the evidence.

The charges he's admitted to should see him and the women sentenced to a very lengthy prison term as it is, but if he's guilty of the worst charge then I think it's abhorrent that he's managed to work his way out of it in this manner.

I don't expect him to survive his prison term, either by his own hand or another's but even that outcome won't be sufficient reparation for the despicable crimes carried out against those infants.

I'd probably stop listening to them if I was a fan aswell.

Probably because he's the singer it wouldn't sit right with me, also I'd be analysing the lyrics from a different perspective.
