LoTR Gollum system reqs out, prepare yourselves...

I can't understand why games aren't more optimised on PC, is it the fact that now they tend to be so powerful developers have just got lazy and rely on the brute force of the architecture it's running on?

Maybe the games are so big these days that developing then for multiple platforms means it's a struggle for developers to do so.

Anyway, I'm not sure ray tracing adds anything to the game at present, most hardware can't run it properly and I'm not sure many people notice the difference in gameplay, I know the games I've had it switched on I've not noticed it during gameplay (other than the fps hit).

I think it's still at gimmick stage.

Simple answer is the most likely one. Executives push release dates hard and any issues on "PC" are given the "you can patch it after release".

It's all business for them sadly.

Getting absolutely savaged. I expect this to bomb hard.

Looks terrible. We dont wants it!
45 FPS with RT and without DLSS on a 40 series card, probably a 4090 (according to Nvidia's video) with massive stuttering, yet it looks like a PS2 game. It's unbelievable how poor developers are this year and it's putting me off.

I saw an article title suggesting 30fps on a 4080 yesterday, didn't read it so no idea of res or settings, but based on that, 45 on a 4090 is about right.

Gladly it seems the criticism it is receiving extends way beyond just the graphics power requirement, so not a great loss to those of us with more modest systems!

The skillup review showed just how tedious the first half of the game is anyway. We haven't missed out at all

Wouldn't have gotten this on release based on gameplay vids alone but now it's a complete skip for me as I usually agree with Skillup and his views on games generally align with mine. Not to mention the game's getting trashed by other pretty reputable sources.

Is DJ Qualls playing Gollum now?
