LOTRO free to play going ahead.

I love Moria, its exactly how it should be. Yes its dark and labyrinthine, but thats precisely what Moria is supposed to be like. Its very well done imo.

After hating it with a passion I'm now warming too it. Maybe its because I've seen what's on the other side...

Lothlorien is nice too yeah :)

Its like a journey from light into dark, into light and back into dark again. The light of Breeland, into the dark of Morai, into the light of Lothlorien and back into the dark of Mirkwood.

Pando Media booster if not disabled will actually course your internet to become heavily saturated like torrent client. Just make sure you uninstall it as soon as LOTRO is downloaded.

My ISP got in contact with me due to the huge amounts of traffic this application coursed.

Whats a nice class to use as a beginner, preferably ranged attack (dont know exactly how attack system works). A good solo class basically

Hunter. Though most of the classes are straight forward to use as a beginner. Wardens are a bit more difficult to use (for me at least), but for ease of use and ranged attack, start with a hunter.

I totally agree with Tombstone, Hunter is a great first class as it can level the quickest (due to travel abilities) and has good DPS (but not the highest).

My main is a hunter, utterly adore him, might have gimped him a tad as he's a dwarf but I refuse to play Elves or Hobbits so that limits my choices somewhat. Level 63 and those instant travel ports are just awesome, as is my 21% run speed buff :D You can't underestimate the fun of porting halfway around the gaming world instantly, to sell something and port back again!

Only other classes I'd recommend starting out on would be Warden (tank) or Runie (arguably the highest DPS class), personally I quite like the Warden but just can't get into my runie at all even though he's a dwarf, which obviously makes him ace. ;)

One class I wouldn't recommend as your first would be Burglar, it's a fun class but I find it very slow to level and it was my first even character - he's only got to level 39 in 3 years.. However if you do pick Burglar skirmishes with an archer pet are rather good fun :)

What new skills arrived?

Seems my hunter now has a melee daze/stun strike and a new bowskill which costs morale and doesn't appear to do as much damage as penetrating shot.

My champion has a new fear removal skills.

My Lm was treated to absolutely nothing at all.

What other classes got treatment?

Loremaster (and runekeeper) are getting some extra skills in the upcoming update journey to winterhome

Hunters good fun, i'm not a beginner as i had a Level 46 Warden beforehand on another server and i've tried Runekeeper, Captain, Guardian as well but Hunter is so much more enjoyable, especially as a Hobbit. It's a good class.

hey i got a champion i just made on the server the ocuk kinship is on, name is Ardlad if anyone wants to add :)

Anyone got any tips on a champion (hes an elf too), i had a hunter last time and it was ok, i kind of regret not choosing hunter again for their travelling skills, when do i first get a mount?

Also is there anything else worth doing at this point except quests, collecting certain items etc, i find with LOTRO its not about leveling as fast as you can like WoW, i really like to just get lost in the (wonderfully detailed) world of it all.

What level do i start crafting and all that? And how does that work?

thanks :)

Hunters are the least interesting class, but fastest traveling, on launch Hunters could level faster than any other class by a country mile, now its barely any difference and I wouldn't even come close to recommending a hunter any more.

When the game launched fast travel points were few and far between, now, they are everywhere, earlier levels, more available, very quick to get around. LIkewise rep "grinds" have become a joke so the harder traveling is also much quicker to attain since f2p happened. If you're in a kin or find a helpful hunter who can port you around to pick up the travel points quickly and very early, its even easier. But remember horses are from lvl 5 now, then proper horses from lvl 20, used to be nothing till lvl 35.

Anyway, travel aside, Hunters are basically the only class without a proper heal, which is why most hunters also choose man for the race as they get a class skill thats a 3k morale heal.

Rune keeper, loremaster, burglar, Warden, Guardian, etc, etc, all of them, every class is easy to solo. RK has the highest damage but can get easily overwhelmed in damage by a large group, Warden's are now the easiest to solo because, you have great mitigation, huge avoidance and large stacked healing while doing damage(the two main healing classes find it very hard to heal and dps at the same time, the only class who can really do this is Warden).

Warden's also get a few traveling ports, a run speed buff, they are easily the most overpowered, easiest to solo, easiest to do everything class.

I soloed about half of Urugarth with my Warden, ok he's level 65, a couple fights were tough, but overall it was very easy, only time stopped me going further through it.

Wardens the easiest class to solo, by a country mile, hunters fastest traveling but the most boring class in the game, until much further in the game you basically have 3 ranged attacks that look the same, even end game you only really go through 4-5 ranged attacks constantly, easily the most boring class to actually play.

Guardians with damage buff are pretty decent fun these days, with reactive skills you're tend to be doing different attack combo's constantly and different stances effect which attacks you'll be using, so semi varied.

Burglar is all about reactions and again different stances enable pretty different attack styles. Minstrels have very decent dps with their dps stance, RK's can heal and damage and are very fun to play with most of the coolest looking attacks in the game.

Lore masters have proper pets, plenty of options, wide array of crowd control and specced well, pretty awesome damage.

Hunter is the single worst class in the game by far, for a year they had so much more damage than everyone, plus travel, that they were awesome, they are pretty much the only class with no major changes from the beginning, travel for every other class is hugely improved and every other class is FAR more interesting to play.

thanks mate thats a great character choice guide, i had already chose champion though and have finished the begginers quests and am now out of thorins hall. You say you get a basic horse at level 5?

For now i think i should just do all the quests i see, then hopefully get an invite to the ocuk kinship.

Try adding these people to your friends list in game. They all have the ability to add you to the kinship:

Amdeal
Caldir / Grimbane
Chlothalion / Kaythalion
Toneh
Ellasil (this is me)

Once you see one of them come online, send them a /tell. Unfortunately you can't invite people that are offline so you need to catch someone when you're both online.

added a few of them thanks :)

With my champion do they specialise in medium armour? And when should worry about learning a craft or anything like that.

Cheers.
