LOTRO free to play going ahead.

LOTRO's big problem is that it gets distinctly 'meh' for a good 10 levels after Moria. I believe Rohan is pretty awesome, but I just haven't had the endurance to grind my way through the intervening levels, the design and quests just seemed really lazy compared to the early game.

I gave up in Mirkwood, the Ashenslades. It was one of those times where they tell you to go to a spot and kill a dozen wargs, and the follow up quest is to go back and kill a dozen more. Just in case it didn't get bored the first time around :p

They all solo pretty well, but I've found the minstrel to be seriously op once you get warspeech. I believe wardens can be amazing too, but I can't be arsed remembering combinations :)

Edit - mind you, if you're a minnie that solos his way to the top in warspeech mode, you're going to get shouted at a lot once you have to start healing in instances and raids :)

Apparently the license is due for renewal at the end of 2014, and there's a lot of speculation that it's not going to be renewed with Turbine. That's why they're not planning to invest in it to any great degree over the year.

No idea if it's true or not, it's all rumour at the moment. But I'm bloody well going to get at least one toon to 85 or 90 or whatever it is now, to see all the content, just in case :o

I can't quite believe how easy-mode it's gotten since the talent tree update. There's no challenge at all, it just makes it all incredibly boring. Actually considering selling my lifetimeaccount, which I never thought I'd do for lotro.

I've been trying to find up to date server stats actually, but not having much luck. Bree is still full of RPer's on Laurelin, but I think the addition of new zones (about to go all the way up to 100) has people spread out all over the place. The 21st hall is just another stop on the way now, no longer the high level hub it used to be.

That's why I've been looking for stats - according to this thread, Snowbourne, Withywindle, Evernight and Brandywine are all the the busiest servers :)

I know for a fact Evernight is a tomb, I stopped levelling on it because it was so empty

My highest toon is only 74, so I've no idea yet. Been dragging myself through Isengard, which is only ok so far. I think the 'big battles' feature of Helm's Deep turned out to be a bit of a flop though.

It really goes to hell after Moria, I don't know if they lost some decent designers or what, but while I can play 1-55 over and over, I've only managed to grind one toon up to 69, and that bored the bejeesus out of me.

I think it's partly that a lot of the post-moria areas aren't directly from the books, so there's nothing to relate too. One of these days I'll make it to Rohan :D
