So this was a shortlist car for me, but what I'll struggling with is the engine choice. My heart says V6, but my head says 2 litre turbo as that's going to be far more tuneable and you get a DCT option which will be great. I do love a manual, but I'm less bothered by DCT Vs manual.

Until the 2 litre is out I guess it's hard to really decide, but that V6 does sound amazing.

Not sure if there is any truth to it but there are rumours floating around that Lotus are having thermal issues with the AMG unit and thus power might get further reduced to 340PS.

It could all be cobblers though as well as the Chinese market Emira supposedly has 400PS from the AMG unit.

Lotus Customer Service still giving out rather mixed messages. Most of those that asked at Goodwood, were told of new dates, 8 week delays. On the back of that I emailed to confirm still on track for my end of May, then June, then July delivery..... Reply was, yup, still good for July. I replied stating that lotus have said they'd be in touch 30 days prior, and it's already July, so how could the car be ready in July, less than 30 days of which are left. Response, your now August. Cheers.

Also... ugly front number plate holder. Despite asking repeatedly this will be fitted, with 4 drilled holes into the lower part of the front bumper. Customer Service has also put in writing to me that removing this to fill the holes in will VOID THE CAR's WARRANTY. ridiculous.

When was the i4 available to order? I thought that was next year.

edit:

Ah nvm I didn't realise the first edition had an i4 option.

Mine was April, then August, now No0vember as told to me by the guys at Goodwood. Apparently that's an October build and they said that was now set and claimed the issues effecting all manufacturers were hitting them less than most, but still hitting them.

We will see. Not sure it's the car for Christmas...but hey ho!

Really nice looking car. Would definitely consider changing my Cayman for one after a test drive in a couple of years. Shame they've had such delays in starting production. Don't expect they'll hit the road till late September or October at the earliest.

Awesome, my 'locked in spec' link has now been changed to a colour I didn't pick, wheels I didn't pick, chassis I didn't pick etc..... Lotus are 'unable to confirm' if the actual locked in spec is what I've picked, or what the link now shows only this week. Brilliant.....

Zzzzz still waiting for it!

@Gibbo where is your head at with your Emira order?

I’ve cancelled mate.
The delays and so so reviews put me off and chances of making a profit even small with the changing car market seem slim.

I’ll watch how customers think of their cars when they start getting them next year and await AMG reviews.

Wise mate. I’ve read a few stories about parts issues, type approval issues and quality problems. Who knows what’s genuine but gonna be next year for most I think and 4 cylinder way off.

Interesting how the hype is starting to cool.

It will be interesting what happens when production cars start to be delivered and the proper reviews can happen with the right cars on the right tyres.

I wonder if the slightly iffy first review planning with cars on the wrong tyres has really hurt lotus.

Should be picking up my first lotus (a Sport 380) next weekend so following the market closely at the moment.

I’d suggest many of the deposits were speculative and based on the talk of overs. For me the only way that would be realised would have been if Lotus created something truly spectacular and they haven’t. It’s just another good sports car. I believe V6 manuals are Feb 2023 delivery for most.

Nothing wrong with taking a punt or wanting one, they are a good car, but I suspect when the reviews look back they will focus more on the shortcomings not the good things. For me a GT4 kills it as does the GTS.

I like Lotus, love their history and their historic philosophy but think this car has moved away from that and needs to be cheaper to be truly compelling.

I'm still on for September build, according to Lotus' latest update last week - however pinch of salt and all. Think I'll still go for it, sold the 911 to do this so might as well I guess?
