Why scrap anything?
Again, look at China. They aren't aguing about *what* they need. They're building *every* kind of power generation plant you can think of.
Coal, nuclear, wind, hydro..... all at the same time.
Why can't we do the same?
Well the NIMBYs block the wind power... and we listen to them (foolish).
The greens block nuclear... and we pander to them too (foolish).
Fracking is blocked due to protestors... I'm seeing a pattern here.
We need a strong govt to tell *everybody* to **** off because we need more power, and we need it now.

Just to clarify, I was suggesting that multiculturalism ultimately leads to self-segregation rather than saying it is defined as such.
People will always flock to their own, unless you enforce every street and town to have quotas of different cultures and that they must live evenly distributed across the houses then you end up with one culture all flocking to one area whilst another will go somewhere else. The result, the two rarely mix.
Can you remember when you were a kid and on occasion when there was group task to be done at school, the teachers would make you sit 'boy-girl-boy-girl'? They did that because they knew given the choice the kids would just gather in all male and female groups, probably with their best mates.
So even teachers know that left to our own devices we'll always opt for working/living by people that we feel closer to, so why we think that phenomenon would change with cultures is beyond me?

The thing which always puzzles me about bigots is that they have terrific strength in their conviction that gays/muslims/blacks/other groups are devilspawn but lack the conviction to admit their bigotry. I just don't get it.
Some of the posters in this thread are bigots but would swear blind they are not. I understand cognitive dissonance but there must be something else going on?

Population is the key "battleground" in the election. We need the Australian/New Zealand way of dealing with immigration. In a island nation we have a finite amount of space/resources. An open door immigration policy is ruining things.
Wind generation doesn't have to be offshore though, onshore egenration is cheaper than nuclear and coal!
Onshore windfarm 86.6 USD/MWh
Hydro 90.3 USD/MWh
Geothermal 89.6 USD/MWh
Nuclear 108.4 USD/MWh
Coal 100-135 USD/MWh
You don't understand how defamation laws work do you. If you believe your character has been falsely attacked then it is up to you to go to court and prove that the allegations are false. Furthermore, libel defamation requires the words to be officially published.
There are other parties with much more robust policies than ukip, im pretty sure that local rich nutter who runs as an independent would make a better mp than farage, at least his election leaflets cover more than one issue
I'd like to see a pollution map of countries to go with that.
