I feel Doug Stanhope is the man to explain things to citizens waffling on about immigrants taking their jobs.
"If someone who doesn't speak your language is more qualified in your country than you are to do your job who is at fault?"
So there should be NO protectionism at all?
How do people with your viewpoint GENUINELY think the game will play out long term? We've got rising economies in other parts of the world, that will pose a serious problem for our future sustainability and living standards.
A country such as the UK (and even more so places like Ireland etc) will simply get assimilated.
1,351,000,000 people in China (current)
1,200,000,000 people in India
1,000,000,000 people in Africa
4,000,000 people in Ireland
63,000,000 people in UK
In my opinion (unpopular though it might be), diversity is a good thing. I like the idea of different countries, it allows for a far more interesting world.
Anyway, that's getting away from the point. I think my viewpoint can be summed up as: highly skilled people who are needed and are not replacing the existing workforce (or the existing workforce who could be trained up) is grand.
Getting uneducated, barely civilised people from all corners of the globe who contribute nothing.....no thanks.
