Just bought a new Samsonite soft one. Wish I had gone for a hard case now!

All it had to do is make it from A to B. It mostly just sits around, what's the point!
Our Antler suitcases have been going for years.
A nice cabin bag has never got anyone laid.

Almost always what happens is the slide out handle mechanism breaks – and either won’t retract, or won’t extend. I had to spend 30 minutes furiously smashing one against a hotel floor last year just to get the handle to close so I could get it on the plane.
Annoying.
So yet again it’s time to buy another one.
I either want:
a) Something sufficiently cheap that it can go in the bin when it breaks and I won’t be at all bothered as long as it survives 1 trip
b) Something decent that will last for a good amount of time before it breaks.
I’ve no idea what my budget is, how much I should spend, etc. I prefer the type of bag where it’s basically a large holdall with wheels and a hard base, if that makes sense. Needs to store enough general junk for a 2-3 week trip (Though I travel reasonably light and we tend to do laundry half way through so I don’t need an ISO shipping container, besides, the GF takes one of those and I can’t fit two in the boot of the rental car).
When browsing for this sort of stuff I have no idea what I’m looking for. Infact so far I’ve not been able to actually find the type of bag I’m after because I can’t even remember what it’s called
Any suggestions/recommendations etc?
What did you go with in the end Fox?
He got a Tesco bag![]()

Fox won't have purchased anything yet, he loved is old luggage, sure it had covered some miles, but it was still in good condition, and still looked good for its age. He tried a newer luggage, it was smaller and more modern but it just didn't ride right on its wheels, it rattled and it's inside lining was just cheap. The old luggage isn't worth anything anyway so hell probably keep it alongside the new luggage when he finally decides.

Do Samsonite do that type? Where is best to buy this sort of stuff?
I've seen soft and hard Samsonite cases.
