What's lighting it with a match got to do with anything? You said about catching fire (do I need to quote your post about moving the goalposts again?)

Nah, here it is for you:

lol you've got as much chance of water catching fire as you do diesel

Here's a gif:

Look at all that fire, call the fire brigade immediately

Its not that hard...

That's actually damn clever. Diesel take a lot longer to take hold so this is a very clever way of starting a fire. It does also prove the point that diesel takes a lot longer to catch fire than petrol does though.

Two irrelevant posts, what's your point?

You mean me pointing out the irony of someone claiming water has as much chance of catching fire as diesel, who then gets annoyed that GD is full of untruths and people unable to admit they’re wrong?

Your videos prove nothing by the way because they are hardly replicating the conditions of the events in the car park.

Your claim is proved wrong by virtue of the fact this event is known to have taken place and the source was confirmed (as of this time) to be a diesel car.

You now seem to be moving those goalposts you mentioned earlier.

Diesel just needs the heat, once its going its bloody nasty
Unless your in alaska then petrol already has the heat it needs

I was actually pondering this over the last few weeks, we're looking for a new place and one of my items I'd like is a garage, so I've started asking around on what the best / cheapest way would be to heat it and the overwhelming majority of the responses are "diesel heater".

Seems diesel is quite a slow burner (which is why most diesel engines have much lower RPM limits than petrol) even with compression, but when not compressed it takes forever to burn.

I wonder how it compares to paraffin...

Diesel is high calorific value.
Its generally safer than petrol.

Often people would recommend diesel as they would use red from dodgy sources. Much harder to secure now.
You can still blend in some used chip oil etc. (Technically you should pay tax on the chip oil used as fuel!)

As someone who's lit many fires using diesel, I can confirm it's great at doing it, and a match will ignite it fairly easily. When in liquid form, it is very stable, but as soon as it turns into vapour (heated), it will go off like a bomb when that vapour is ignited.

Why are people automatically thinking it was diesel?

If it was the Range Rover Evoque that started it like in that video they come in diesel, petrol and hybrid configurations.
Because that's what the Fire Brigade have stated.

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service revealed on Wednesday morning the cause of the blaze was a diesel car.

“We don’t believe it was an electric vehicle,” Andrew Hopkinson, chief fire officer for Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said.

“It’s believed to be diesel-powered, at this stage all subject to verification. And then that fire has quickly and rapidly spread.”

Because
"Fire chiefs investigating a huge fire at an airport's multi-storey car park believe it started from a diesel car."

They "believe" which correct me if I am wrong still isn't fact.

I "believe" Manchester United will win the Premier League this season couldn't be any further than the truth.
