I've known 3 people online who have 'died'. Only one of them is actually dead - the other two did it for attention.

Sad.

We had one of the members of the SETI forum pretend to die. His name escapes me at the minute but I think it was around 2001/2002. I'd know it if I seen it.

Any of the oldies know who I'm talking about?

That was it. Was a shame though, everything else he posted was 'worthy' in motors, stuff about his car etc.

Didn't his car turn out to be a fallacy too?

I knew you would have something to say about it :p

I've been witchhunted before and lied - on another board of messages that now doesn't exist, and some other places where publicly-viewable profiles are hosted.

However it was deliberately, and elaborately done to prove to the person who was determined to screw me over (bearing in mind virtually everyone on the board knew each other in real life (shock!)) just how much of a **** he really was.

Needless to say he walked straight into the trap, and many chuckles were had - not at my expense either.

Childish yes, amusing, yes - therefore justified :)

I can't dance, can't drink, can't sing, can't post fast, can't moderate and can't spell very well. This has all been an elaborate ruse.

I thought my name was Mike but thank god for Gilly and Otacon they have rightly informed me my name is actually kev... :D

Think you're giving Daz some undue crap there, it was all me, you are just unfortunate enough to be the spit of my mate Kev!

I know it but can't remember :(

It'll come to me.

I think that the dodgy pint does exist. In our local SU a few of us had two pints of lager after uni had finished for the day. The next day everyone who had drunk the lager felt really rough. :( Hence why I now drink real ale / bitter like old/fat men.
:D

On another forum we had a guy fake his death. He posted as his wife to announce the tragic and sudden death. There was a fund being set up etc and loads of goodwill messages. Then he started an account as his son (who we had seen pictures of and was around 7) His "son" then replied to some hardware questions and accidentaly used his "deceased" dads account but later apologised saying he'd logged in by accident. Some people started asking how he knew so much at his age, he said the photo's were old and he'd learnt off is dad. But people were starting to feel weird about it.

He then suddenly tried to explain that he'd gone on holiday and left a friend to look after his house who'd made up the story and posted it all. But it was pointed out that the person would have had to have used his works IP too. He was banned.

This guy had made about 6-8000 posts and up to that point he was well respected, it upset a lot of people :(

I think some well respected members on here are guilty of talking from their rear at times. I'm not all that bothered about it, gives me something to read at the end of the day whilst I'm sat swinging in my chair in my swanky office raking in my six figure salary :o

Add Salvatore.. he was ocuk'detected
I remember that one. Didn't he make another account to big himself up as well? Although, he forgot what account he was signed into and ended up giving himself away.

I remember a poster called Harley from my lurking days. He was very helpful on legal and business matters, but some of what he claimed seemed a bit far-fetched:

  • Owned multiple properties in the UK
  • Lived in California
  • Had met Michael Jackson and been to Neverland
  • Had met Tom Cruise
  • Had owned many sports cars including a DB9 I believe
  • Charged £2000 per hour for consultancy on whatever he did

I suppose this all could be true, but you have to wonder why somebody with all that would bother posting on an internet forum so much.

I seem to remember he left when somebody called all of that into question.

What did Salvatore bull about? Theres a little light trying to come on in the back of my brain but it needs a little help :o
He tried to pass off someones else deviant art account as his own. It was actually his friends. Then he created an apology thread and responded with his second account forgiving him.
