There was a similiar thing on EOCF (Extreme-Overclocking Forums), yes i used to hang out there. A chap called RichDog (might even be a member here actually) posted a pic of his 'girlfriend'. Not only did it turn out to be a factparty member, thuis faceparty member was a SHEMALE  . Pure roffs. I'll try and find it :D .

:D

I suppose there is some kind of appeal in taking advantage of the anonymity of internet forums to creat an online persona which is how you'd like to be in real life, even if you are totally different actually in real life

Quite sad though, isn't it? But comedy gold when they get rumbled :D

The inquirer talking about the fake murder had me laughing though

"Oh, and all the best to the poster that wrote in the discussion "I bet The Register will have something on this scandal tomorrow. They always report on crap like this". We aim to please :-)."

Pure Class

Thinking about this, Harley/Sequoia/etc’s posts seem to be read and replied to whereas mine rarely are, indeed if you listen to some people mine are just “long and boring” (;)). I think I’m going to start embellishing my posts with lies (gradually decreasing in veracity) and see if there’s any difference.

I write this from my brand-spanking new laptop.

I'd thought i would just bring this back to life!

A while back someone on here wanted advice about a bird they were just starting to see. Aparently she was a model that had been doing some boobies shots (nutts or zoo - something like that). Anyway we all asked him to post some pics of her and he posted this...

Anyway, this pic has just done the rounds in a Best T-Shirt ever email!!! Is this another forum BS'er?? :D

Edit...

Just found the thread!

but then sometimes they are telling the truth, I know when I posted in motors that I wanted a dodge charger and I was going to buy one, most people accepted it at face value, but some thought I was lying, or very sceptical.

But yep, lying on a forum is pointless. Suppose they have nothing else to do and like the feeling of been told there great.

Who remembers Flamingo? He claimed to be from a big company that had bought a car CD player from someone here on Ebay.

Yep. His websites security was secure as ever. The user login function was a simple javascript using if/elses, viewable using 'view source' in the browser :D

can we use this thread to come clean about lies then ?

I dont really own a Cobra, the Subaru was on loan from a mate, I am not really married with 2 Sons. I also dont have a large house in the country.

this thread may be a lie

We had one of the members of the SETI forum pretend to die. His name escapes me at the minute but I think it was around 2001/2002. I'd know it if I seen it.

Any of the oldies know who I'm talking about?

J Franklin/ET Hunter? Posted to claim he'd been killed in a car crash. Then was resurected and the story had "actually" been posted by his alcoholic/headcase brother.....? BS ;)

JohnnyG is famous for being Jailbird's postman, IIRC.

edit: as for the Harley/Sequoia thing, the latter's support for Dirtydog in a recent underboss thread was interesting. I remember Harley being quite suprised, and perhaps even a little impressed at just how much DD had observed/deduced about him a while back...
