Madeleine McCann cops ask Home Office for more money to continue search for missing child

306,000 missing persons are reported to the police each year in the UK. Let's say 99% are found. That leaves 3,060.

The police have spent 11 million over the past 11 years (11 years this May). That's easy maths, 1 million a year. £2,739 a day.

so the 3,060 other missing people 'would' be costing £8.3m per day! Mmmmmmmmm

I'm sure I read somewhere that they say if a person is not found within the first 24hrs the odds of ever finding them are extreme. Again, Mmmmmmm it's been 11 years.

Why are we spending so much money? Does make you wonder if they made a huge mistake early on, and the mccanns have used that to force them to keep piling in the money.

. . .
The fun with this story is that the day the Police call off the search, the outraged gutter press (AKA Mail, Sun, Standard, Mirror, Express) will be up in arms demanding to know why the search for the Angelic Maddie has been abandoned by a heartless (and probably corrupt) Police force.

Its a horrible situation and one that I hope nobody ever has to go through... but after 11 years would you really want your daughter back? Would she even know you?

Or is just about searching for answers to what happened?

I think after all the media attention, if she wasn't killed within the first week she certainly would have been by now. To be honest, and this sounds harsh, she is probably better off dead.

What's the likely hood she's living a normal life with new parents? I mean let's say her parents didn't play a part in this and that she was abducted. What could be their motives?

On the assumption the parents were not involved (aside from the negligence we know about of course) then I would be doing exactly the same as them. I would keep trying to find her by any means possible. I wouldn't stop. So I can't begrudge them doing so.

But that doesn't mean it's necessarily the right way to spend the extra money; it may be better spent looking for other children where the chances of success are greater.

Unless there is actually a solid lead with evidence to support it then there is no point giving more money.

There are people who exploit desperate situations to make lots of money for doing nothing. I feel that someone involved in this investigation is making a lot of money knowing that there isn't anymore paths to go down.

She'd be nearly an adult now and wont even remember her parents.

Exactly.

Would you even want to remember such messed up parents?

If she is alive she must feel disgusted every time her parents faces are plastered in newspapers.

I would want to stay as far away as possible from a couple of idiots who valued finger foods, cheap alcohol and spending time with mates more than their own children.

Imagine the reunion.

"mommy why did you leave me?"
"Oh Im sorry mommy and daddy just went to indulge in children party foods and get drunk with our mates"

:/

She may not even remember she was snatched and could be living happily with people she thinks are her real parents. Unlikely, but stranger things have happened.

The eye defect she had would suggest that there's no way a kidnapper could slip her into normal life without someone querying. The parents were told not to reveal it because it would place her in extreme danger. They of course mentioned it straight away.

It beggars belief how many people here criticise the McCanns as if they set out to lose their daughter.
I can only say that I hope most sincerely that no child ever has the misfortune to end up with any of you lot as a parent when (if) you ever grow up.

Yeah, children would be much better off with parents who leave them unattended* than with people who think that behaviour is negligent.

I mean, obviously.... duh

*to play drinking games no less

What?

Are you saying a parent who would keep an eye on their kids 24/7 and doesn't value cheap fingerfoods and fake friends more than the child, is a misfortune unto the child????
