Mafia 3

WOW! So worth it! :p

Yup people can do whatever they want with their money, although I just find it amusing that despite the amount of games being released the way they are now and people complaining, they will still go and pre-order :o

Even if people can enjoy this game at 30 fps with the vaseline, it would be more the principal of it for me, 30 fps lock is an absolute slap in the face especially with how the game looks.

Yea no i completely agree and have started to change my ways unless its a game you know is going to be well made i tend to hold off

We dont buy nice hardware to run games like poo :( literally ordered a 1070 today but at times i wonder whats the point these days if game devs arent making the most out of what pcs can do

For those on mobile or can't access links:

UPDATE [10/6 / 6PM PT]: We currently have a patch running here at the studio that includes 30, 60, and unlimited frames-per-second options in the video menu, among other improvements for the PC version of Mafia III. We’re verifying the patch now to ensure everything is working as expected. If everything goes well, we expect the update to go live this weekend. We will be keeping the PC community up-to-date on the status of the patch throughout the weekend and thank you for all the feedback!

36 minutes to unpack, bed time..

If they manage to get the fps patch out for the weekend, that does deserve praise. Granted the game should have released with this in the first place but it's good to see they are actively trying to fix it early and keeping the community informed.

It's bizarre to me that they wouldn't just delay the game for a few days or a week if it's that easy a fix. Even just looking at it from a hard-nosed business point of view, the fallout from a week's delay would have been far, far less than this ****storm.

Has anyone worked out how you can put the speed limiter on your car? It used to be L but I think it's gone completely now. Shame as in Mafia I quite like driving civilised.

They cant win either way, delay and upset everyone or release an unfinished product and upset everyone.

To be honest i think they way they have done it is worse and i agree they should have just delayed it for a week, this will damage reputation more than anything

Fingers crossed.

So is the game acctually any good? Or does the 30FPS limit really ruin it that much?

IMO it's not worth touching until the FPS limit has been fixed and there are more control over the graphics options.

I'm waiting for the patch before re-installing.

I only spent an hour last night but it seemed good to me. Yeah it's got it flaws right now but it's not as bad as everyone is making out.

The increased frame-rate patch can't come soon enough though

glitches and much weirdness all over the place, simple stuff like keymapping being wrong, stuttering all over the shop, this is not ready for release

The only thing I think should have happened is 2K should have staggered the releases and released the PC version with an unlocked framerate later than the console versions, They would have got flak for the delay but it would have been a lot less than it is for doing a 30fps release after they didn't allow early reviews which makes theorists think it was done to mask the fps problem (which it could have been).

I still haven't got an issue with pre-ordering because I'm not in a rush to play it and we know it will be fixed, I pre-ordered Arkham Knight and once released regretted that I'd bought it through Kinguin (I think it was them) but I got it cheap and then a member on Kinguin put there season pass up for sale for just a few quid so even though the game was a mess I grabbed his season pass too, The game runs fine now and I got it and it's pass for a really good price so I can't complain. With this I may not play it for a few weeks but I've got the pre-ordered guns and cars and when I do play it it'll run fine. If they had not made a statement saying an fps patch was happening I would have waited until my 2 weeks was running out and if there was no news by then I'd of tried it at 30fps and refunded if I couldn't get on with it.

Why pre-order then?

Surely the few extra guns and cars aren't that worthy of having... Are they not available in the main game at all? Just not able to unlock them till a bit later on or you have to pay more in game money for them?

The problem with pre-ordering and even people buying the game now knowing what state it is in, you are essentially giving the thumbs up for them to do this. The only way to make companies aware of your disappointment with things like fps locks, bugs etc. is by voting with your wallet, it is all very well posting on forums but at the end of the day, they have got your money whether you like the game or not and that is all that matters to them.

The whole reason i bought this for pc is cus it should be miles better in terms of FPS and detail, if this is not the case I may cancel my order? Ive got the ps4 pro coming next month so not sure if to get it for ps4 instead?

I think it was aimed to be equal between platforms hence the 30fps thing. I dunno if the gfx are the same or better on pc as not bought it yet but given the 30fps thing i bet its the same res textures etc between all platforms. Publishers dont want pc to have better than consoles most of the time these days you see.

I had a feeling this would be a poor mafia game given that it is made by a different studio. Lacking in traditional mafia game style. Driving looked poor in past videos and doesnt seem to have gotten any better at launch it seems.

Dunno if ill get this, might if it goes real cheap in a sale but full price, nah. Got better things to do like watch anime or tv shows.

I am contemplating getting this for the PS4. Seems like the PC edition may never become the game we were all expecting - I hope it does. I want to play it at 4K not 1080p!!
