Mafia - Forum game

Surely if the interest is high, multiple games can run at once? just have the days end staggered?
I think it might be better to have one game of Mafia and one of Werewolf if there are more people than spots in the game. Perhaps look at some variants as well.

I'm sure iviv is looking at the options - he did a great job of setting it up in the first place.

I just have this funny feeling that my previous actions may have a bearing...... it's just a feeling :D

You've played one nine-man game, it's a bit early to start making meta cases.

Once a couple more simple games have been run I'll dig out one of my Role Madness 13-mans for you all. Role Madness games are hilarious, but they're not recommended for new players. I ran one called Mafia Metal Mayhem, where everyone played the part of a heavy metal band. In that game there were the following:

* The Town were called Scum, and the real aim of the game was to lynch all the death metal bands.
* There was a Scum Cop, who of course identified everybody as Not Town.
* The only player in the game who identified as Town was the Godfather, whose ability worked normally. This made him technically a Miller, which meant he was best served by openly claiming Godfather.
* One player had a one-shot jailer ability that appeared to be a day vig. He ended up using it on himself, much to everyone's surprise.
* Another player was told he was a combination Cop, Vigilante and Doctor and also Bulletproof. In reality none of his three active abilities worked and whenever he used one everyone would be told he nearly died.
* A third player started the game as a Third Party Survivor, but every time he was targeted by an ability he'd join the side of the player who targeted him unless that would make one side win the game. At MYLO he got turned to the bad guys, instantly declared that he was a bad guy because he hadn't read his role properly and invited the other bad guys to join the charge. Whoops.

It was crazy and despite one of the bad guys getting lynched on Day 1 it eventually ended in a good guy victory at LYLO.

Hello! I'm still here, just been caught up with life. I'll go through the thread tomorrow evening and hopefully get a 13 player game going though.

You should also consider trying to play a forum version of The Resistance:

Definitely one of the best games ever made (in my opinion :p) and would translate quite well to a forum.

As much as I love Avalon (The resistance, but better), I don't see it working too well online because of all the interaction required. Selecting who to take on the missions, then voting on if the mission should go ahead, there's far more interaction required than in something like Mafia/Werewolf, and I'm just not sure how well it would translate. Plus with roles like Merlin you have to be able to give subtle signals and tells, which is much harder to do via text.

Sorry, due to a combination of family issues and it being Christmas, I'm going to postpone the start of the game until Monday 6th January, as that way there won't be people who can't play due to holidays, etc.

Fair call - let's start the new year with a lynching!

Probably a good idea. Can I put an early vote in for Pookie Bear? :p
Of course... but hey, let's not rush into anything - I was going to let you live and run the local brothel :D
