Mafia II Thread

Blimey. ONE person didn't like it (e.g. the Eurogamer reviewer) and half the population here are now doubting whether to buy it. Crikey. Didn't realise 'they' (i.e. he) had so much influence.

I think it'll be a cracking game much like the first. They were no doubt expecting another GTA type game. The first one wasn't, this one isn't. I'm glad of that and will still be getting this.
 
I usually go by Gamespot and IGN's scores, Gamespot gave it 8.5 and liked it and IGN gave it 7.

Ignore Eurogamer, they always release stupid low scores to turn attention to their website.
 
tried it yesterday - thought it was tripe. Just seems a highly polished GTA clone. (thought gta IV looked better and had better gameplay as well) Car handling was crap as well.

Cars handled crap in the 1940's.
 
Yeah the cars in the original handled pretty badly, but that didn't stop it from being one of (if not THE) the best games of it's genre.
I do think that people expect too much from games that are being released on 5 year old hardware, I mean there's only so much they can do unless they make it PC exclusive and let's face it, that's never going to happen when console games = cash in publishers pocket and according to them every single PC gamer is a pirating scum who should be shot at dawn.
I'm getting wary of reviewers sites and magazines. Maybe they should have a new reviewing score system, something like

Paid us
Didn't pay us

Mafia 2 does look pretty good, even though earlier in this thread I said OXM only gave it 7/10 but I've played a few games that got panned by reviewers and really enjoyed them, the most recent being Alpha Protocol.
 
I personally can't wait to get this, review scores are always subjective anyway. Like Red dead redemption with it's universal top reviews, I completed that, and thought it was terrible in just about every way. For their 10/10, I'd have given it 4/10.

The original Mafia on the PC had some mixed reviews too, yet it's my favourite game ever. So review scores are not something I take a lot of notice of.
 
got this on preorder , cash been taken he's hoping for it to be on my doorstep Thursday, mafia I was awesome on the pc I remember taking 2 days off work to play it awesome game he's hoping for more:D

There's loads to do in the demo besides the mission now if you want to talk about rubbish demos Kane and Lynch comes to mind, but mostly because its a rubbish game.

Turn simulation mode on, its not crap at all :confused:.
Also im guessing that eurogame fool never played the first so cant respect the quality of its sequel.

The good news is were going to give them away. :)

The catch is :-

Tbh I didn't like the demo I played it on ps3, but demo isn't big reflection of the game itself so it might actually be a decent game.
 
With the pc and xbox versions getting the same score on gamespot, does this mean that the performance issues have been fixed on the final version of he game for the xbox, or that the reviewer didn't think that it had a detrimental effect in the game?
 
Iv been out of the console world for a few months now as i sold everything to pay for my motorbike test which i have now passed :)

Anyway my mrs is now off to town to get me a nice new 360 slim and a copy of mafia 2 today from a local inderpendant shop, So roll on this afternoon :)
 
Will be picking this up tomorrow, but irritated to see there's already paid for DLC on the store before the games even out!
 
Got mine this morning, not had chance to play yet but looking forward to it the first was a classic and i've been hyped up ever since the first trailer, i so hope it doesn't disappoint
