[MAFIA] The Thirteen Doctors

@iviv

Not too dissimilar to yesterday morning really with you and Chris voting psymonkee. There is only 1 more voting for Chris here.... At least there is a bit more reasoning behind this set of voting.

I think that a couple of people here are a little lynch-happy. I am all for getting someone up a tree on day one, but I feel some are a little keen.

Basically, those who are flinging the most poop about (and already voting!) are high on my list of suspects right now. I'd like to think that by tonight there might be a little less fence-sitting though.

Remember, today is in some ways the most important day. The mafia know who each other are, but they have not been able to talk with each other. They have no game plan. After tonight they will have had the chance to chat and figure out how to react if one of them is being targeted. We have to take advantage of that, because after tonight they will be much more organised.

No, that's perfectly clear, but we've already had voting and unvoting - when half of the group aren't even actively here. The trend so far has been to lynch those who are the quietest on day one and, it has to be said, there has not been a single successful mafia lynching so far in any game I've witnessed.

On that basis, those who are making the most noise are pushing themselves up my list. Yes, the quiet people are making it tough for anyone else to really trust them, but I think more people need to start getting involved.

I think the majority lynch rules actively promote 'fishing' votes where you can vote for someone just to test the reaction rather than in any real attempt to actually lynch anyone. At the moment no-one is particularly close to getting lynched anyway so the votes themselves are largely meaningless but the information on who has jumped on any particular bandwagon should provide useful information later in the game. If someone is getting close to being lynched and no-one is defending them then they're probably town and that may cause the mob to point their pitchforks in a different direction

Also remember that the deadline will work differently. If we're gonig to lynch it needs to be done before then. If we don't reach agreement before that time nothing will happen. I'm not sure there's any benefit in waiting to see what happens as it probably just turn into a chaotic last half hour with no consensus being reached.

Very good. The key time is L-1 ; when we are 1 vote away from someone being lynched. The rest of the time the votes don't matter quite so much (not to say they aren't important).

Agree 100% with Iviv and Kaiowas. This game day is potentially one of our most important days, especially in a majority lynch. Previous games haven't used day 1 particularly effectively. The previous game only had a handful of votes and the one before that was a no lynch. We don't really want to let that happen again.

I don't agree with this at all. Getting discussion flowing is pro-town. no one is being bloodthirsty and calling for whole town lynch and we're still at L-4 which is a long way to go.

Lurkers are the ones doing the town harm right now - if we go into tomorrow with a townie lynch or no lynch, an NK and people who have still barely posted we will not be in a good position. To that end, I'm calling out lurkers now:

Shorttricky - 2 posts, 1 was your confirm, 1 joke.
Psymonkee - 3 posts, 1 was your confirm, 1 defensive post and 1 post saying there isnt enough info
K1LLSW1TCH - 6 posts, 1 confirm, and a lot of 1 liners with low or no content
Shamikebab - 5 posts, 1 confirm and the rest mostly jokes.

I know it's early, but the sooner we get posting, the closer we will get to finding scum. Please post comments on current voting patterns, specifically iviv and my vote of Psymonkee and the voting of myself.

Shorttricky especially, 2 posts with no content after 35 hours is pretty anti-town, so I'm voting for you as a lurker.

I'd hardly say I was lurking. It's day one, there is nothing to go on at the moment so it's just people blind firing out votes. We have plenty of time so there is no need to vote someone based on their facial hair yet.

I'm not saying you're not posting, I'm saying you're not posting content. It's day 1 sure, but votes are starting to be put about and avoiding comment on those topics could be seen as lurker behaviour. That's my opinion, not fact, but that's why I'm commenting.
Freely admit iviv and my initial votes were random, but the votes against me were not. They see 2 instances of "suspicious" behaviour and have started a (fairly small) bandwagon about it. Is this to take the heat off Psymonkee? Is it unrelated and a fair call?

You're missing the point. By joining in the discussion your input will give things away. Townies don't have anything to give away, but mafia do. Therefore the more you discuss things, the more likely you are to let something slip if you are mafia, therefore mafia will want to be quiet.

Also, remember the game rules. Currently 3 people are going to be killed through inactivity.

Cool, here's some content:

Fair enough, I've provoked you into that. I'm not in the best spot to be prodding people into providing content as I have 3 (now 4) votes).

So, care to explain why?

You're missing the point.

Can I just confirm that's directed at Shamikebab and not myself?

Therefore mafia will want to be quiet.

Or post a lot without giving away content, by talking about beards and not votes.

Sure, but there is not a lot to discuss at the moment really.

Correct. Which is why I am trying to generate something to discuss. For example, call out lurkers and hear them defend themselves - which you have now done.

thing is now, yes you are trying the generate conversation, however you already had 3 votes on you and now you've voted for someone. Now you have a 4th vote for you. The discussion had already begun, you have just added to it, however your point about the lurkers is true, not posting often is either lack of time to check or passive scum lurking which is a valid point.
