Kuala Lumpur

In the mid 1990s, Malaysia was undergoing a huge change. Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Malaysia's Prime Minister was determined that by 2020, the country would be a fully industrialised nation. The best way to do this, it was thought, was through the auto trade.

The nation's number one oil company, Petronas, began investing heavily in Formula One with Sauber, and Malaysia's national car company, Proton, bought Lotus Engineering. The most extravagant part of the plan however was the building of a multimedia 'supercorridor', linking Kuala Lumpur's new international airport with the capital city itself.

Mahathir ordered that a Grand Prix track be constructed too, and not just any track. He wanted to create a track that would be the envy of the world in terms of its facilities and technology. What he got was the Sepang International Circuit, and on its 1999 debut it did not disappoint.

Designed by Hermann Tilke, Sepang is one of the most technical circuits in Formula One. The combination of long high-speed straights, and tight twisting complexes make the track very complicated, but also perfect for overtaking as the track itself is very wide. The drivers love it and, along with Malaysia's distinct atmosphere, it makes for an experience unique in Formula One.

Well I was going to say if this is dry we'll actually see the reletive pace of each team, as Austrailia is notorious for throwing up odd results.

Looking at the forecast though, it could be wet. We know that it always rains in the afternoon. It's called the rainy season for a reason.

It's nice to not have a clue who will win this one. Especially with the chance of rain.

I will go for Hamilton to bounce back and upset the usual form by winning in the wet!

Hamilton
Vettel
Button

Was hoping for a dry weekend as it should give a better idea of where everyone is as Australia is pretty unique, but a fully wet weekend won't be so bad I guess :-D

That forcast better not change on an hourly basis like the Australian one did! I'm in the mood for some wet race fun!

I'll be very happy with more of this...

Lol what an amazing forecast. Wonder if Kimi will be eating his ice cream on race day again

Probably if his car is already damaged and not gong back out on track as it was last time.

I wouldn't read to much into that forecast. It will most likely be dry and sunny in the early afternoon. It's after 5pm or so when the rain usually starts.

Exciting - hope for a Mclaren 1-2, ideally Lewis then Jenson and then....

Schumacher!

Lewis struggled in round 1, after looking at many on board videos of Lewis compared to vettel and button after the sc, Lewis was struggling with wheel spin and just over all traction from the rear, vettel was pushing very hard and along with webber. But jenson was in a different league, he looked so much more relaxed than the others.....

Malaysia is one of Lewis's favorite tracks so high hopes from him this weekend :)
