Malaysian GP 2009 - Race 2/17

Point the front wing of a 2008-spec car in different angles it was not designed for (like you are asking) is just going to ruin the airflow over the rest of the car and it will lose critical downforce and crash. This is WHY the 2009 cars look completely different... because major changes had to be made in order to get the cars racing closer together.

He already knows this, he is quite clearly well versed in aerodynamics and how to design a quick race car.

Anyway its quite clear that the Brawn GP cars do have somthing extra in hand. Jenson didnt seem at all bothered about passing Trulli + Rosberg infront and then destroyed them once he was out on his own. Anyone know what the gap was between Rosberg & Button when Rosberg pitted then the gap between Button & Rosberg once Button came back out into the lead. Was also horrifically clear how poor the Mclaren is in the corners, Hamilton appeared to have no confidence to attack/defend against Webber in those conditions.

Button came in about 30s ahead, and came out 16s ahead after a few sectors. Rosberg was not far ahead at all when he pitted. 2 laps or so and a fast stop made Button between 15 and 20 seconds on Rosberg

I think Brawn are carefull with the pace of the car until after the diffuser debate is settled. If the Brawn was destroying the cars by a huge margin falt out, then I'm sure they may well look at the whole thing a bit closer.

Which may explain why Brawn keep on about even more parts coming to make the car better. They can use them as an excuse if and when they have to unleash the cars full potential.

I don't ever recall seeing a car built, so fast out of the box like this Brawn.

My summary: exciting race; lots of, well... racing. Kinda wish I hadn't hoped for a monsoon now :(

The individual battles to get in front of Alonso were great. I really have to say that these new regs are working.

Commentary: As much as I regard Legard and Brundle, the Five Live/red-button duo of Crofty and Davidson provide a much greater sense of excitement, and they have that elusive commentator chemistry. I'll be tuning in to this duo from now on.

Two weeks for the next one? Aargh!

While it is amazing, its not really just out of the box though is it. Honda spent basically all of last year designing and developing it. I bet they are kicking themselves now for pulling out.

Couldn't agree more, davidson was fantastic i thought, and while i like brundle and legard individually, they don't work very well together.

The drivers couldn't see today because of spray...
Webber : "It's dark now, so it was the right call not to make a restart."
Hamilton : I was aquaplaning everywhere - these were the most dangerous conditions I've ever raced in," said Hamilton, who went on to finish in seventh. All I could do was try and keep the car on the track.
Barrichello admitted the light, and not the rain, had made things very hard.
"That's the unfortunate thing of starting the race at five o'clock, basically," Barrichello told the BBC. "But, it was definitely the right thing (to stop the race) because visibility now, not from the rain but from the sky, wasn't going to be easy."

Interesting quote from Vettel as well, about his spin.
"A spin wouldn't have been much of a problem, but the anti-stall didn't work. Without that, I would just have spun, lost some time and that would have been it.
In the past drivers had three pedals, a throttle, a brake and a clutch and when you were spinning you knew exactly what to do. It's not in our hands anymore, so it's a shame that we have to retire for this stupid reason."

Just reading a load of old Kimmi quotes. "I don't care" and "It doesn't interest me" come up with alarming frequencey :p

Love things like this
The helmet has a special meaning for many drivers. How important is it to you? - It protects my head.

Do you have any special rituals when the helmet is concerned like many have? - I wipe it so that I can see better.

Much prefer their commentary the radio 5 group but virgin have stopped my access to the red button since I've taken the free virgin TV >_<

Although it says on their site that red button works on the free TV service >_<

Ahahah Kimi eating an icecream.

LOL at Kimi :D

LMAOOO at Kimi, he's great :D

Kimi is such a legend. :D

lmao @ kimi nomnomnom

Is everyone in agreement.. we love Kimi!

Yeah Kimi da man! :D I love this guy. I think he's brilliant. He just doesn't give a damn. He isn't manufactured in any way. Unlike the Ferrari, and probably McLaren, post race statements attributed to him. The ones that probably represent about 4 years worth of speech from Kimi.

That comment about where he was when the grid was meeting Pele in Brazil 2006 and him being spotted out of his race gear and nomming on an ice cream are just pure Kimi. Who else in F1 would be seen eating an ice cream before the race is even officially called off?

So where do we stand.. are McLaren appealing the result?

Looks like we're going to make a habit of it. Maybe we should lie again too, just to keep things consistent you know.

It was the comment about him talking to the tam and Leggard said he felt Kimi would have had to have gotten the nod from the team to be able to walk of and have some ice cream...

I doubt it, not if it was anything like his retirement in Monaco a few years back where he just got out of his McLaren and went sunbathing on his boat! Sure McLaren didnt dive him the nod for that!
