Malaysian Grand Prix 2015, Kuala Lumpur - Race 2/19

I wonder if they want to avoid using them early in the race. It's up to the drivers to respond and manage their speed, so if everyone is bunched up it could get messy and they could have a sorts of penalties and accusations of people not slowing early enough?

No different from when the safety car did pull in.

We got the finger :(

A very well done to Vettel and Ferrari. Merc lost the race in Q1.

Why didn't they use the virtual safety car they keep talking about? Please no finger

They didn't, Merc being crap and not realising the tires would go longer with each stint, which happens every where, lighter car, and they went round Q1 at a sedate pace, it was a banker lap to beat the last 5 cars. Put it this way, Q2 tires which get used at a significantly higher pace went WAY further than Hamilton needed on Vettel's car under full fuel load in the first stint. His fresh tires starting at around half fuel load went 15-16 laps, tires with a couple laps out of them at 2/5th's to no fuel over the stint would have gone faster still and longer.

Was just bad call after bad call, they over estimated tires early in the race and as a result panicked and went ultra conservative at the end to make sure they had no problems. The entire race was panicking calls, had they done a shorter hard tire stint after safety car and gone up to 1 second faster a lap they'd have won even with hard tires on at the end. They just messed up the calls badly.

In fact if they'd put the fresh softs on under the safety car they'd have cleared the traffic MUCH faster and been fine. Had they not pitted at all they'd have been fine. Q1 made zero difference, pitting under safety car was one bad call, second was attempting a 25+ lap stint on hards which was never, ever going to happen.

I'm no fan of Vettel or Ferrari but you know what I hope they genuinely are a challenge to Merc this season.

We'll be getting a Hamilton walkover else as clearly Rosberg is going to get constantly owned so would definitely be good to have a battle.

Might be a bit odd, but the speaking from all three drivers was good, Lewis very good on the party line, Nico seems to know in his own mind he is second best at the team, and until he chnages his own mindset he will remain in that position.
Vettel is very exceptionally emotional, great to see it meaning so much to him.

Hope it isn't a blip.
