Man of Honour Nomination....

Remember the bit I said where Magnolia explained it better than I could? Yeah? That's really the important bit of my post, not the bit you decided to pick up on.

I read mag's post.

As much as he may be a nice guy, still don't know what he has done to deserve MOH.

The only person I can think of is Gareth.

But then again, most of you guys don't seem to listen to people with my post count and just go with whatever everyone else with a high post count is saying. (generally)

For example, if Castiel had less than 1,000 posts would you nominate him then? Probably not.

If Castiel had the same kind of input and helpfulness (He's answered questions for me in email, not just here), then yes I would.

You forget this is all personal opinion, and I said Castiel would be high up on my list, I didn't say he would be top. ;)

Gareth170 is also my top vote, with Stulid just behind.

Gareth is a worthy nomination, although looking around Stulid seems to stick out somewhat.

Stulid has helped a lot of people in GH to choose the best components etc...

So yes I can see your point.

No offence you to fella, but I cannot see why you have been nominated for MOH?

I might be missing something, but I thought MOH is a title awarded to people who have inspired other people to do good etc...

I'd like that, it would give people a feeling they have atleast some sort of say, however small..

Considering the lack of activity from Spie over the last few years it wouldn't suprise me if things changed, Spie has moved on from around here it seems.

Worst, "I'm desperate to be a man of honour" thread, ever ;).

There is more to MoH than spamming the forums!

You need to let that idea drop, bro. It's not realistic or indicative of how these forums operate. Other forums where the post count and join date are held as badges of honour? Sure. Here? No. And that's how it should be.

Castiel raises the low-tide mark that GD is accustomed to into something better, something higher. He won't get MoH because he doesn't post in the other sub-forums but that doesn't mean he's not one of the better posters here.

Stulid must be head and shoulders above the rest for the sheer amount of advice he has given to new members, as a relatively new member myself Stulid helped me greatly when i first joined and i was struck by how he answered all(totally noob) questions with patience and he ALWAYS backs up his recommedations with benchmarks as well. I also remember reading one thread(or maybe more) where he went round to a new members house to help him set up his new system!!

Castiel is obviously a contender but as others have said it does seem that a longer history and members who post in specific areas are often looked at first.

No offence taken:)......I think the MoH is about contribution to the forums rather than inspiration exactly...but I haven't been here long enough or participate in the sub-forums outside of GD and SC to any degree (a few posts here and there) to deserve MoH...although I thank all those for their kind words...nitefly, [FnG]Magnolia, CasKirensys et al.....

I just think we should have some input into at least one of the nominations...to reflect the community if you will....

I hear Robbo does some pretty great things when it comes to phone advice (do kids even call them phones anymore? I'm so confused)

Just saying.

He doesn't, he just has more money than everyone else in there, so can buy them all! :D

(Sorry Robbo!)

Don't get me wrong, I agree that Castiel is one of the best posters here, but I thought MOH was for someone who inspires people to change for the better, or who have a life changing story to share among others, or are incredibly brave etc.....

At least that's what it should be. The title should mean something, not just to hand it out to people who post nice things.

Meh, not really. Sure Gareth is pretty inspiring for his ability to play video games with his disability, but I think castiel has made a bigger impact on the forum as a whole and on a day to day basis. Consistently good posting deserves recognition.

I agree with magnolia that in past years the life section of the forums has been overlooked, but the truly classic members usually get some recognition (dm_poole etc).

I've read several really positive things about the advice he's given to people :)

Well, it's still an internet forum so MoH has to be taken in context. Then again, it's entirely up to Spie and he's never been clear on what he thinks MoH means but he does seem to choose good ones.

[FnG]magnolia should be considered on the strength of his Sigs alone.....

This man is insane. Mods - ban him :)
