Man stabs another after he fails to wash his hands...

Yep. Several studies have shown that people who wash their hands 4-5 times a day suffer less illnesses than others
Studies sponsored by soap manufacturers? :p I know this isn't SC (or we'd be arguing about immigrants ;)) but I would be interested to see a source for those studies :)

No, you're just the reason why the common cold hasn't died off.

The common cold hasnt died off because it keeps changing its design and therefore our bodies have to constantly develope new anti-bodies for it

But it only gets to live long enough to finish each mutation whilst on the hands of some dirty so and so who doesn't wash. Probably.

it mutates once it has replicated within the host cell, and if you have the common cold virus on your hands long enough for it to mutate then you're not using your hands enough.

i go to the toilet in a modified version of this :p

i heard that the hand dryers arnt that hygienic because the air particles being blown on your hand consist of water/urine particles from the flushing of the toilet...

the fact is that if you touch your wang its much more unclean than anywear else on your body like your face etc. this part of your body collects sweat etc, much worse. and has folds of skin....etc etc. its also were you pass fluids etc.

Are some of you Howard Hughes in disguise? I love the bit in The Aviator where he waits in the toilet until someone else comes in so he can sneak out without touching the door handle.

I do that, or use a bit of tissue to open the door handle.

Use the back of your hand to turn the tap off also!

Urine is cleanest substance than comes out of your body. Stop being so ocd people ;p

Personally i only wash if i get pee on my hands. Gross thing i have seen before is when an old man went for a wizz, then went to the hand dryer to dry his hands (clearly pee'd on his hands) and then walked out without washing them! That is gross!

Lol, the studies I've seen are in microbiology journals and I only have them in paper form I'm afraid. But I do recall reading one such study which revealed that immigrants have introduced a new strain of bacteria that could wipe out the entire native population of the UK... ;) :D

that is not fact at all! infact thats probably the least factual statement ive ever read!

infact, i might see if i can nip into the microbiology lab on the floor below my labs and do a swab test onto an agar plate of a length down my wang-shaft and a length down my face and see what grows more.

Forget your face, take a swab off the toilet door handle (inside door handle) and then compare it to a culture from your mobile phone, quite shocking results!

It doesn't seem to tally with my own experience and what I have heard anecdotally, both in this thread and elsewhere though.

A worthy experiment :)

I'll tell you what's really disgusting about it. You use the same facilities as the rest of us and you're not giving us a choice about sharing your germs. I don't give a toss how hygenic you are in your own home but if you're using public facilities, washing your hands should be mandatory and it's at least the only polite thing to do. It's called being civilised! :)

That the great thing about being a man, you don't actually need to touch anything in public toilets (except the floor!).

I can't find the actual articles but there a quite a number of reports that make reference to similar studies like this one and this one. I was looking for the study that they did in Northern England but I can't find it.

Man stabs another after he fails to wash his hands, a few drunken words are exchanged, things escalated and some insults, and possibly some physical actions, were thrown both ways.

Is probably closer to the truth. Not quite "You didn't wash your hands." *stab*

and FWIW, I always wash my hands, especially in public loos.. not because I pee all over my hands or I am particularly unclean, but those door handles/taps/whatever else your hands come into contact in public loos/etc are not clean.

I wash my hands, but I don't do it for the misguided reason that my penis or urine contains copious amounts of bacteria. In fact urine is fairly sterile.

It's just manners and respect to those who may be sharing your company.

I always quickly run my hands under the tap when I'm out, although I admit I don't do it as frequently at home, although I do a large amount of the time out of habit.

A number two is different as you're getting to grips with an area that contains smells, and having hands that smell of **** isn't that desirable.
