Man vs Food

Looking forward to Food Network picking up the Sandwich show (assuming they do) - I love a good sandwich, and some of the ones already featured on MvF look amazing.

Just watching a show on good food. And so far it's exactly like man vs food.
You gota eat here. But set in Canada and I don't think they have. The competition bit.

:) feels a whole which has been empty since no new series of man vs food.

I've only just started watching Man Vs Food, and was very disappointed to read that he was not making a new season. It's a shame, but it would've been the death of him ultimately.

Thank you Adam for introducing us to so many fine eateries! I can;t wait to try that beef house back in your home town next time I go to the States.

Going to be in California for a couple of weeks from Friday and I've been studying tvfoodmaps.com with interest :p

That looks a challenge tbh, but appears do-able and not too ridiculous. Some of the MvF monstrosities are just insane tbh.

Banana ketchup is delicious for the record.
Mushroom ketchup is better though.

I do like the show, I'd love to try some of the food on there, I wouldn't go out of my way to but if I was in the states certain things I might pop out of my way to.

I've done spicy challenges, a curry which contained a handful of scotch bonnets and 3 bhut jolokia. Finished it, it was not worth the free meal and pint of beer.
Anything under 6lb, as long as it's not all meat or all bread I can do, a local kebab shop does a 5lb kebab which i have finished a few times.

slightly off topic but i was flipping channels at stupid oclock the other day and stumbled across a program called "outrageous food". it was like a rip off of MvF where they had a challenge at the end.... but there's no way it could have been for real. someone had to eat 7lb of breakfast in 1 hour but they did it in about 8 minutes. that can't be possible. :/

There's a competitive eater on one of the MvF episodes who does a massive burrito in a minute or 2 so it's possible.

I'd go as far as saying it is physically impossible to consume over one stone of solid food in an hour. Happy to be proved wrong but if those weights are accurate I'd be surprised if anyone ever finishes it.

You greatly underestimate what a determined nutter can achieve.

This one was "only 9lb" but he completes it in less than half an hour, and it's all fried and greasy..... not padded out with salad like those burgers. ;)

I think the physical aspect is the easiest to overcome: everyone's stomach is physically capable of stretching to many times it's original size.... it's just the mental aspect that'd be difficult. Once your stomach starts telling you it's had enough it's gonna take a huge amount of willpower to ignore it and keep cramming the food down.

It is possible, some people can basically force food down their throat without chewing.

Possibly underestimate, but not greatly so. In fact I even checked before I posted that, being very careful to say 'solid food'. Considering the human stomach can, at bursting point, hold 4 litres and you only have an hour to complete it, I don't believe that volume of food can be consumed in that time.

Bear in mind that the record for eating cranberry sauce is a little over 13lbs in eight minutes, and that there are similar records for similar weights in similar times, I don't think anyone could devour a 7lb burger in a 6lb bap, with 1lb of fries, plus milkshake, salad, cheese, bacon and sauce in less than an hour. I just don't think the human stomach can process enough food quickly enough to allow it to all get in there, even if you had the willpower to do so.

This is my local joint,
