Manager Merry Go Round 2014

Gimp when you said in the earlier thread you didn't want to argue with newer/fair-weather fans hence didn't vote on whether he should be sacked or not surely the majority would've been in agreement with you and there wouldn't have been much arguing :p?

Frank is the only one I can recall defending him most of the time and Loki had that one post I can remember saying he deserves time to build, wtf were you worried about arguing if you think he was garbage

It's quite simple, I don't argue like normal people :)

I know, as I have said he was nothing like the manager with his words he was at Everton. It got to him and where he would bang heads together at Everton he didn't have the bottle at Manu. For starter he should have kicked Rio to training with the youth team. For whatever reason he had the balls to tackle Zaha but not the others.

If I was a manger at a club these days I would have a social media ban in the contract unless it was managed by the club. Keanes comments on Rio did make me laugh.

Keane was right, imagine if Keane was around when Moyes was there, it would have been a mass walkout.

I didn't realise asking a question was grilling someone

You never said at the time and I was interested as I assumed you wanted to keep him hence not stating your opinion

Trusty would have wound him up no end, he loves Moyes.

Forget who he is :p

It's a question you've asked several times, that's a grilling.

I never wanted him in the first place but could see why he was chosen, it's easy to criticise now it has all played out but at the time I was prepared to give him time, that was until it became apparent he didn't have the balls for it.

What I meant by fair weather fans are the one's that appeared all of a sudden out of nowhere telling everyone how they knew from the start he was the wrong man and giving us their 'expert' opinions, luckily on here we tend to realise who those people are pretty quickly and then pay them no lip service.

In days gone by, I would have called them ****s and sat in suspension for eternity :)

Purdy is correct I did say this.

Like any new manager David Moyes did deserve time to deliver his own team. But the writing was on the wall from the New Year. As a lot of people have suggested, he choked it, no shame in that. I would hope if we were in a similar position of being offered one of the top jobs in our chosen career, we would all jump at the chance of doing and worry about how you was going to do it afterwards.

No doubt he will go on to somewhere like a Villa, West Ham or Newcastle where the demands and expectations are less and do an admiral job and I wish him luck. Quite clearly though not good enough to manage a club like United. Albeit not helped with the likes of David Gill moving on. It was the perfect storm waiting to happen

Oh no I completely agree, I've said before the players have to take some of the blame but then again, is it not Moyes' job to motivate those players?

One of the things that always came out in the Fergie era is that the team never rested on their laurels and were ready to challenge again as soon as they had won the last trophy. You would have thought that losing Fergie would have motivated them to try and do even better the following season.

That is down to Moyes and his coaching staff. I mean making Rio and Vidic watch a video of how Jagielka defends, give me a break.

always thought it was a falacy that someone else can motivate you - always thought it came from within ( like Giggs, even if he is a one off).

Fear of letting SAF down is somethimg else :D

Moyes was a failure for a lot of reasons, but some of the stuff he has been blamed for is completely unfair ( not by you, just general observation)

All Utd fans should celebrate the job going to LvG, the clubs first ever foreign manager ( and please no jokes about Scots being foreign lol)

A team of motivated sportsman one season, to a team that struggles to beat cannon fodder at home and in most cases lost?

That's down to two very different managers.

The fallouts at Barca( the 2nd stint) and Bayern concern me, and that as recently as in 2010/11 ( I think) the bundesliga where able to counter act his tactics so well

Best choice of those available however, and has the strength of charaxhter to overrule any over inflated egos left in the dressing room.

I wouldn't be overly concerned with his tenure at Bayern or his second spell at Barca. To be fair a lot of the big wigs at Bayern are questioning Pep now after delivering a domestic double

Dont doubt that at all, but it still begs the question whether those same sportman (a number of whom are of course leaving anyway) would have performed for any other manager apart from SAF.....

Good point - but then Bayern do look worse (certainly in Europe) this season....

and just like Arsenal, the German Cup took until added time to be settled (although to give Pep credit the league was won with a record number of games still to be played).

I never got a response before as far as I remember, you may have skipped my post :)

Fair enough on the response though.

Suspensions just force people into being passive aggressive :(

Good point, although you'd think someone would recognise the difference in moving from a smaller firm in the same industry to a much larger one with different expectations and mentality. Still no Hodgson mind you, you guys deserve a proper one of those.

Barcelona have appointed Luis Enrique as their new first-team coach on a two-year deal.

The 44-year-old former Barca player, who managed the club's B team between 2008 and 2011, left his role as Celta Vigo boss last week.

Barcelona parted company with manager Gerardo Martino after finishing second to Atletico Madrid in La Liga.

Sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta recommended Enrique, who has also managed Roma, to replace the Argentine.

Not the most decorated manager!

I just hope he changes things round at Barca, the whole tiki taka football needs to change now as teams are finding it too easy to beat them.

Not only that they need a few players brought in, started with Ter Stegen from that German team that has a name too long to pronounce:p.

Will be interesting to see how Barca do next yr with a new manager in charge, Real should be better seeing as Ancelotti will be in his second yr and Atletico?? not too sure as they are losing Costa and perhaps a few other players this summer ie Arda Turan and possibly Courtois.

According to a few Barca need as big a rebuild as Utd (probably a bit of an exaggeration even with La Liga not being as competitive as the EPL)

Didnt realise Turan was leaving AM, thought he had only just arrived there for some reason. There have been rumours that AM have made a deal about selling Costa to Chelsea to keep Courtois (although how this plays out in the end who knows, not sure how fallable Cech has been this season maybe he could last another season or two at the top with a stronger defence infront of him?). Praying every one else stays to defend the title though (and maybe the CL too....)
