Manager Of The Season - Redknapp

It is a big achievement .. for Tottenham.

But we are comparing them to the rest of the league. If tottenham were the only ones in it then yes. Harry would win.

They have spent a lot of money to achieve their goal. I dont think they have done anything special its just the other teams around and above have had a rubbish year. Which makes them look better. ;)

If they got through to the final of the FA Cup as well then maybe but to spend big and finish 4th isnt worth manager of the year.

Hodgson should win it for what he has produced so far this season if its about the premiership managers and not what they have done in the league.

Surely those things are irrelevant towards the Premier League manager of the season?

I don't like Redknapp at all, I can't think of any other names that deserve this award though really, not that I think 'arry deserves it either.

I guess you could argue that despite winning the league, Chelsea have underperformed but I would still give league based merits to Ancelotti for coming into a tough league and winning the title in his first year. He did inherit a great team and a healthy ownership situation but I don't take any of his achievements away from him because of that.

Perhaps being an Arsenal fan I have a bit of hostility toward Spurs and Redknapp but I just honestly think he doesn't deserve it, he's done nothing this season apart from fiddle taxes and keep the team more consistent than Man City and Villa. Surely those were his objectives at the beginning of the season and all he's done is completed his objective, he hasn't exceeded the Spurs boards hopes in any way I doubt. Wenger's target set by the board was more than likely to simply get into a Champions League spot, do well in the CL and anything else is a bonus. He did that and he's done that for over a decade but instead of plaudits, Wenger gets criticized.

Also, I think my feelings on the matter may be slightly skewed due to every supporter of Spurs from here to White Hart Lane saying they will get 3rd place and how they're "In the Champions League" when they're not. Just made it that little bit sweeter when they bottled it against Burnley really. Look at the table now and Spurs are right where they should be, lower down than Arsenal.

For me, what proves this is complete balls is the fact that nobody would have given him this award a few weeks ago and way too much importance is put on coming 4th.

I'm really staggered that he's won this. They've spent an ungodly amount of money and have been underachieving for years, finally they just about fulfill expectations and he gets this? Madness!

Ancelotti deserves this award so much more than Redknapp

LOL cant disagree with you on what you said...although it seems pretty cool to criticise Wenger but lets not forget that yr in and yr out Wenger has qualified for the CL with a pretty inexperienced squad ie our youngsters whereas Redknapp has spent loads of money to finally achieve CL qualification...well they still need to get past the qualifying stages dont they??. Main thing is that Arsenal always ends up on top of the Spuds yr in yr out....i expect normality to be restored once Liverspuds get their act in order.

But kudos to them getting 4th from City...thats an achievement in itself but to get the manager of the year award is just sheer ludicrous...sorry if its based on Prem league merits then Ancelotti should have got it....who the hell were these muppets that voted for Dodgy/teflon 'arry??

To be fair I think most people got it by the end of the first page. Now the main argument seems to be even under the 'league' criteria that Don 'Arry didn't deserve it.

sigh.. you know full well what point i was trying to make

sometimes i get the impression people dont read threads properly
they just read the title and the first line of the first post then reply

Of course he didnt...as i asked earlier on who the hell are these muppets that voted for him to get the award??...did he bung some money their way??:p

Well done Hodgeson, fully deserves the award. Good luck on Wednesday (oh and cheers for the weakened side on Sunday :p).

this! :)

Now that they haven't beaten us to 3rd, do any other gooners feel..I don't know..in some way.. pleased(!?) that spurs have got to the champs league?
All I'm saying is, it's nice to have a competitive rivalry again lol, they play football the right way, and it's amusing to see a. Liverpool lose out, b. Mega-spending City miss out...

Anyway back to hating them! Boo hiss Redknapp :D

As much as I like Harry I reckon it went to the wrong man this year, Hodgeson should have got it hands down !!!!

Woy has had a fantastic season, as his LMA award atttests, but this award is only for Premiership games, and Fulham had a fairly middling season, compared to their 7th last season.

Have to say 'Arry's done well by Spurs, it's him or Tony Pulis - he's done a sensational job improving on Stoke's first Premiership points haul. There was some stat about them being the first team to do so for a stupid number of years... they do play fugly football though! :D

Good point that I didn't even think of.

I've always said that out of Spurs, Liverpool, City or Villa I'd rather Spurs get fourth as they're a London side. To be fair as well, beating Chelsea, Arsenal and City recently, and Liverpool earlier on they probably deserve it over the others. Though aye, there's a massive element of them getting it just because Liverpool were so bad and inconsistant. I've always considered UTD, Liverpool and Chelsea as Arsenal's rivals. Tottenham may have been historically ours but I just don't see them like that. However, from next season things may be different lol.

Next season is going to get interesting to say the least should we not sort the squad out. Liverpool won't repeat how bad they were this season, Spurs can add to their squad, City will go on a spending spree and it's worth considering whether Villa can raise their game after faltering at the end of the last two. Though being that we were supposed to be Liverpool this season and that they would be challenging for the EPL, who knows really.

I think Ancelotti deserves some credit for the way his side have mauled teams this season.

There's been no getting in front of a poor side and just shutting up shop like Jose would have done. They've properly thrashed teams.
